'Badshah of Bollywood', Shah Rukh Khan proved yet again that he is the king at the Eden Gardens cricket ground in Kolkata.

Reportedly, on the very day of the IPL III match series between SRK's Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore, the fire brigade had asked the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) to demolish super hospitality gallery-block at Eden Gardens as it did not meet the fire safety norms.

But SRK used his connections with the PWD ministry to save the razing and said that he would take full responsibility of the safety of the building.

PWD secretary A Bardhan informs, "After this undertaking, we issued KKR the requisite NOC."

After the NOC was issued, the people who had bought the ticket for the hospitality block (costing 32,000) were admitted at the Eden Gardens by the police.

Fire brigade not happy
However, the fire brigade was not happy.

"The block is unsafe as far as fire safety norms are concerned. We would not give any permission to such structures. If any mishap occurs, we'll lodge a complaint against IPL and CAB," said fire brigade director, Gopal Bhattacharjee.

"Neither KKR nor CAB showed any courtesy of contacting us before using the block on Sunday," he added.

But the CAB was quick in shrugging off the responsibility and Biswarup De who is the joint secretary of the association said that CAB was not involved.

"It is up to KKR to decide on this issue. We are not an authority to prevent anyone from using a block, if the person has a valid ticket. It's for the police and the fire department to see the safety aspect," he said.

KKR's first win
The Kolkata Knight Riders registered a 7-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL match held at Eden Gardens on March 14 and completed wins in both the matches.

Royal Challengers batted first and set a very modest score of 136 which was achieved by the Knight Riders in 19.2 overs without much ado.
