SRK's Ra-1 in Miami from March 2010!

The shooting of Shah Rukh Khan's next, the SFX extravaganza, Ra-1, is all set to commence from March 2010. The superhero project is to go on the floors in early March and the first phase of shooting will last for about a month. The location chosen is the sun and sand of Miami.

As per executive producer, Prashant Shah, founder, president and CEO of New Jersey based Bollywood Hollywood Productions, though it is a superhero film like SPIDERMAN and SUPERMAN but instead of the darker and grittier city like Gotham City, the location chosen is the sun and sand of Miami. Apart from the exotic location what drew Shah to Miami was the wonderful experience that he had in 2008, during the shooting of Tarun Mansukhani's DOSTANA.

As per Shah, while the shooting will be on locations in and around the city, the cast and crew will be based at the Doubletree Grand in Coconut Grove.

Must say its good news for all SRK fans and countless children who are anxiously awaiting this exciting offering from King Khan.

Kajol states working with SRK is a bad habit

After Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham the trio of Shah Rukh, Kajol and will be back once again with Karan Johar's My Name Is Khan. Kajol is excited as she is back with a film after a two year gap. Her last was her home production U Me Aur Hum. But the actress says working with Shah Rukh is a bad habit. "Once you work with him you are spoilt. When a lot of people saw Kuch Kuch Hota Hai or Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge they believed in us. It has set the standard for us. When you will watch this film too you will think of nothing but of Rizwan Khan played by Shah Rukh. The film is a humanitarian tale of love and sacrifice. It's about triumph of human emotion."

Kajol feels that nothing has changed in Shah Rukh, "Except for his six pack abs which he didn't have during the making of Dilwale Dulhaniya." But goes on to add further, "We have worked hard on this film and it has been an intense experience to go through it. I think Karan's films completes us. I have worked with him earlier right from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai to Kabhi Khush Kabhi Gham and every time it is a new and exciting experience for me and Shah Rukh together."

MY NAME IS KHAN music to be showcased in 20 countries

The relationship between Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and global music giants, Sony Music, has withstood the test of times for more than a decade and has been a fulfilling one for both. Right from KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI to WAKE UP SID, they have always delivered some quality music and it is but natural that the music album of perhaps the most anticipated and the biggest movie of 2010, MY NAME IS KHAN, will be another rewarding experience for both Dharma Productions and Sony.

In order to keep up with the current demand of heavy and aggressive marketing and promotion, Sony has chalked out an intensive plan to showcase Karan Johar's directorial venture starring Bollywood's global superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in all key international markets.

In what must be a first in overseas marketing, the music of MNIK will be showcased in over 20 countries with specific marketing plans for each territory. Cross over markets will also be targeted and Fox Star Studios, which is the global distributor, is chalking out a theatrical plan for the project. This was revealed by one of Sony's top marketing director, who also disclosed that apart from the above, there will be associations with leading music channels, GEC Channels, radio networks and web marketing with emphasis on innovative and aggressive promotion, the kind that a big project like MY NAME IS KHAN deserves and needs.

Certainly this revelation has indeed come at the right time as the teasers of the melodious soundtracks of the film are already making waves and need just the right kind of thrust which should be provided by the top music company, Sony.

Bollywood celebrity Shah Rukh Khan to star in feature film shot in early 2010 in Miami

One of Bollywood's biggest stars is slated to spend about a month in Miami shooting a film that could be seen by up to half a billion people around the globe.
Executive Producer Prashant Shah, founder, president and CEO of New Jersey-based Bollywood Hollywood Productions, said besides entertaining global audiences, his film geared for India may also draw global investors to Miami.
An "estimated $50 million was dropped into the city after they saw our film," he said of "Dostana," a 2008 Bollywood film he produced in Miami. "I know at least 50 Indian families from Southeast Asia who, after they saw the film, bought homes in Miami."
This latest project, he argued, will spur even more investment in the area thanks to star Shah Rukh Khan.
Mr. Shah said filming on "Ra.One" is expected to begin in March and last about 30 days. It's also expected to generate about 1,500 additional jobs.
It's a superhero film, much like "Superman" or "Spiderman," but instead of being set in a darker, grittier Gotham City-like setting, the producers chose the sun and sand of Miami for the backdrop.
Although an unfamiliar face in Miami, Shah Rukh Khan is one of the preeminent global celebrities.
"Most people don't know who he is, but he's as big as Brad Pitt and George Clooney rolled together," said Robert Parente, director of the City of Miami Mayor's Office of Film and Cultural Affairs.
Mr. Khan has starred in 67 films and 10 television shows and produced 14 feature films. He owns a video effects shop in India and in 2008 was named one of the 50 most influential people in the world by Newsweek magazine.
Despite the star power coming with this film, producers chose Miami even though they aren't receiving any film incentive money.
Although the state more than doubled its film incentive fund from $5 million to $10.8 million this year, the money was already spoken for by the time the production team on this film chose its location.
While another US location, such as Southern California, could have provided a similar backdrop, Mr. Shah said it was his experience here in 2008 shooting "Dostana" that drew him back.
And if he wanted to pursue incentives, he could have done so easily.
The German government used incentives to cover 50% of costs for the filming of "Don 2," an action thriller starring Mr. Khan, scheduled to begin shooting in September next year, he said.
That enthusiasm for Miami, some say, could bode well for the future of the film industry here. Industry advocates have been fighting for a restoration and overhaul of the state's film incentive program since the legislature slashed it from $25 million to $5 million in 2007.
While the team will be shooting in locations around the city, they'll be based at the Doubletree Grand in Coconut Grove.
And even though Mr. Shah said the project's budget is still being worked out, Mr. Parente of the city said he expected the company to spend between "$10 million and $15 million locally."
The choice to shoot Bollywood in Miami may not be a fluke, either.
Mr. Khan's latest film, "Kites," is being edited by Miami Beach-native Brett Ratner. Mr. Ratner directed the "Rush Hour" series of films as well as the Fox series "Prison Break."
And if Miami were to become one of Bollywood's production hubs, it would have a significant financial upside.
The Indian film community that produces the multi-hour singing-and-dancing spectacles churns out about 900 of them annually, according to Mr. Shah.
Hollywood, he added, only produces about 260 films a year.
While many Bollywood films don't go beyond Indian theaters, Mr. Shah said about 400 open worldwide every year and two new Bollywood films open in North American theaters every weekend.
And even if those films don't break box-office records, he said, the worst a Bollywood production does in revenue in North American theaters is $1 million, and the average is $3 million to $8 million.

No Reason to Celebrate

Let's get this straight: Dulha Mil Gaya is a mediocre album that's essentially reminiscent of 90s music and doesn't match up to the standards of the contemporary music. In this Shah Rukh Khan, Sushmita Sen and Fardeen Khan starrer, the title track and 'Shiri Farhad' are the only saving graces of the soundtrack.

Inspired from the philosophy of 'Akela aaya hai tu, akela hi jayega', the first song on the album, 'Akela Dil', is indeed a groovy number which compels one to relax and contemplate on the real meaning of life. Adnan Sami lends an amazing uniqueness to the song. Anushka Manchanda, despite getting only a few seconds on the song, sounds great with her high pitched rusty voice.

'Dulha Mil Gaya' is a vigorous number sung by none other than King of Bhangra, Daler Mehndi. With the sounds of dhol in the background, Daler's vocals are a sheer treat for the ears. The beauty of this song lies in its simple lyrics; and Daler's rendition takes the song to a different level altogether.

'Aaja Aaja Mera Ranjhna' doesn't have much to boast of. In fact, it springs up as a shocker after listening to first two songs on the album. The track reminds one of the music of 80s and early 90s, making one wonder what why a music composer would risk bringing that flavour to any of his compositions.

Next on the album is 'Magar Meri Jaan', another preachy number like 'Akela Dil' but not as impressive in terms of music. It's again a run-of-the-mill endeavour by Lalit Pandit. Singer Anushka Manchanda is the only saving grace with a noteworthy voice.

'Tu Jo Jaan Le' is the third songs in a row that takes one down to the memory lane, wherein a hero would cry out his feelings in a super-melodious manner. One can't help thinking what a cakewalk this song must have been for the talented Sonu Niigaam.

'Rang Diya Dil' is definitely a melodious track, but not an out of the box number. Shreya Ghoshal's voice fits in the bill and the song begins with a nice tune; but after a minute or so one looses interest as there is nothing new in the song to offer.

At last one takes a sigh of relief! 'Dilrubaon Ke Jalwe', a Qawwali track blended with hip-hop makes it an interesting listen. It does come across as a refreshing treat after a series of easily forgettable numbers in the album. Watching Shahrukh Khan and Sushmita relive the moments of 'Tumse Milke Dil Ka Hai' (Om Shanti Om) in the song is definitely going to be a visual treat.

'Shiri Farhad' is indisputably a song to vouch for. This peppy number clearly indicates the presence of Pritam's music in it. Neeraj Sridhar has yet again proved his versatility and has gone one step ahead with this song, which has the potential to become one of the popular songs in the coming days.

SRK wants to flirt with Abhi

Superstars can be quite blunt with their remarks on the other actors in the industry.

At Star Plus' Jashn 2010 - Dhamaka Naye Saal Ka when director and friend Karan Johar offered Shah Rukh Khan to be a part of Dostana Part 2, King Khan immediately turned down the offer and said that after sporting a six-pack he would not like to spoil his image of a macho man.

He added though that, on any given day, he would love to flirt with Abhishek Bachhan and John Abraham, but still not at the cost of his "straight" image. We wonder what wife Aishwarya Rai Bachhan has to say to this who was present right there!!

SRK: I'm not anti-social

He may be known for being reserved. His interactions might be limited to a select few, but this does not bother SRK in the least.

The superstar of Bollywood has vehemently come out in the open against people who dub him anti-social. In a recent interview, King Khan admitted that he loves to be on his own but this should not be misinterpreted.

SRK, who is all set to roll out his biggest film till date; MY NAME IS KHAN (MNIK), is gung-ho about his character Rizwan Khan in the film. SRK feels that playing Rizwan was one of the big challenges and he enjoyed every bit of it.

According to SRK, MNIK, is not a serious subject, but something that will have its lighter moments. So, to call MNIK a film based on terrorism will be a gross mistake. The film also assumes significance since we will get to see SRK pair up with Kajol after ages.

My Name is Khan

We hope people after watching My Name is Khan..people don't feel strange by muslim's name as Khan..

SRK can be humble!

Shah Rukh Khan, the pains and failures of 2009 behind him if not entirely forgotten, is looking forward to the New Year because it brings with it

Shah Rukh Khan

the imminent release and promise of the biggest film of his career (his words, not mine) – Karan Johar's My Name Is Khan.

He's had a bad year starting with the shoulder injury and surgery, then the uninspiring box-office returns for Billu – his only release in 2009, and finally the humiliating decimation of his IPL team in South Africa. But, as the poet T. S. Eliot famously wrote, "For last year's words belong to last year's language and next year's words await another voice"... and SRK, I suspect, is secretly hoping that the next voice cinema audiences will listen to is going to be his in 2010. Or rather Rizwan Khan's, the autistic character he plays in My Name Is Khan, which is slated for a grand bi-lingual worldwide release in February.

Actually, the character in this ambitious film suffers from asperger's syndrome, an autistic disorder whose main symptom is a difficulty in social interaction. It is a role that Shah Rukh, who is notoriously among Bollywood's least social people, must have slipped into with consummate ease. Over a glass of tea in his vanity van one night late at Mehboob Studios, I asked him whether audiences were ready for another challenged hero after Bachchan with progeria in Paa and, before that, Aamir with dyslexia in Taare Zameen Par.

Shah Rukh replied, "Audiences understand what you tell them. People like a good story. And this is a joyous film with a new romantic thought, the journey of an ordinary man. It is a love story with an epic feel. All love stories have obstacles, but the obstacle in My Name Is Khan is real, it happens in everyday life. For me, the film was an opportunity to play a challenged character... bahut maaza aaya!"

What he was saying was contrary to public belief that the film is based on terrorism. Shah Rukh scowled. "I don't know where you got that idea," he said in exasperation, "yes, it is set in the aftermath of 9/11, and it is heroic without the fighting and screaming, but My Name Is Khan is a heartening and even funny film... even though we didn't try to make a funny film! I am excited about it as I am about all my films. But this one I'm very proud of. Mainly because I've co-produced it with Karan. Also because Kajol and I are acting together after eight years." He's not seen a trial of the film as yet to voice an opinion on how well it will do at the box-office. That Shah Rukh never does. Not for his own films nor anybody else's. In fact, he said he's hardly seen any of his films completely. "Trials mean analysis," he explained, "but trial reactions are different from theatre reactions. I don't make a film for myself, I make it for the story. Besides, I'm shy of myself on screen, I'm not vain, it's just that I'm not fond of my face or physique. Maybe that's why I'm an actor – so that I can play someone else."

Perhaps, he was still in character for the film. Or, maybe, interacting with people is as much a problem for Shah Rukh Khan in real life as it is for Rizwan Khan in reel. "I'm not anti-social," he protested, "I'm a quiet
person, strangely reclusive, I'm not as confident as you think I am. I have issues. I'm thankful to Allah... to be not so gifted and have all this. It may sound pompous, but I'm great enough to be humble, I'm very happy when people say 'SRK's the best'... there is a sense of achievement, I'm happy by what I've done, but humble enough to know it's not because of me. Yet put me on stage, say, at Salt Lake Stadium before a million people and I will comfortably entertain you for an hour. As long as I'm an entertainer, I have no problems. It's when I'm Shah Rukh Khan that the problems arise. I'm a fun guy... yet my kids enjoy their mother's company more."

Small's the new big!

He may not have had the best year-end news with "Kurbaan" failing at the box-office, but Karan Johar is frank enough to admit that "Paa" has been the delight of the year for him. "I think Amitabh Bachchan took acting to another level in 'Paa'. That and the emergence of Ranbir Kapoor have been the highlights of this year," he says.

Hopefully, he'll have a lot to speak about himself in the new year. There's loads of excitement in store for him as not just his Kajol-Shah Rukh Khan starrer "My Name Is Khan" will release in February, but it will also mark his return to television with 'Lift Kara De', a non-fiction show. It is from the big daddy of Hindi cinema, Yash Raj Films (YRF), that makes its way into television. Slotted for 20 weeks, the show will feature 20 super stars from Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, and Kajol to Kareena and Deepika alongside their biggest fans. The show, to be aired on Sony Entertainment Television, is one of the five being produced by Yash Raj Films Television (YRF TV), a subdivision of YRF that will provide content.

Given the bond he shares with the Chopras, Karan is naturally upbeat, and no amount of probing about the reported rift between the families evokes any reaction. "We had never gone our separate ways, so this is no reconciliation. Yash Raj Films has been a big part of my life. It has been my family, my home and my training ground. I have been a student of the Yash Raj school of cinema. With 'Lift Kara De', we can promise dollops of entertainment. And, there will be loads of emotion; the show is all heart and soul. I can't tell you to what lengths fans can go to please their star!" he says.

The show began with a nationwide hunt for the biggest fan of a particular star. Each of these fans had to reportedly go through various tasks to prove themselves worthy of meeting the star. While very little is being revealed, the emphasis on the social angle of the show appears to be heavy, thanks to the tagline 'Lives Will Change'. "It's heart-warming to see what they can do and actually do. I don't think any of us sitting here can do it. I feel quite thankful that I didn't have to do any such thing to meet my favourites –Amitabh Bachchan, who saw me growing up, and Shah Rukh, who became a close friend, a little after he came into the industry," says Karan.

Who else can be expected to open the show but Karan's friend — superstar Shah Rukh? "I am quite happy that he was there for both my 'Koffee With Karan' seasons, and now for this. He is special to me."

However, he's miffed that no fans of directors were invited. "Directors too have a huge fan following, or so I'd like to believe. Sadly, there has been no forum to test our popularity yet," he says in mock dejection.

SRK: MNIK is hatke

The promos of My Name is Khan are all over TV screens. Shah Rukh Khan tells us how MNIK has helped Kajol, Karan and him evolve as people, actors and filmmakers and how religion has never been an issue for him.

"My Name is Khan is very different from the movies Karan has made before, and yet, he has preserved the Karan Johar-ishness he is known for. Karan, Kajol and I are close friends. We understand each other without even saying anything. However, a lot of times, Kajol and I were surprised with the way Karan wanted to shoot a scene, as it was different from the way the three of us have worked before. This was one of the most beautiful surprises for me as an actor, as a friend, as a viewer and as a producer. I am an insider, who can also see Karan's films as an outsider, and I can say that he has evolved tremendously with Khan, which is hatke and a step forward for all of us," says Khan about Johar, adding delightedly, "The three are magicians, and I am sure the film will do very well."

MNIK deals with issues like discrimination against Muslims. So, has SRK ever felt he was treated differently because of his religion? "I am a Muslim, but I have never faced any difficulties. In this country and around the world, I have never had an issue. I have been blessed in life, and my religion has helped me. It may be an issue for other people in other countries, but not for me. The issue in MNIK is how people can find strength in love. It tells us that love is the way forward in life. More than Islam, MNIK is about humanity," clarifies Shah Rukh Khan.

Shah Rukh Khan and my mother are my lucky mascots. Karan Johar

Yash Raj Films show 'Life Karade'. Here he talks about the show and his favourite superstars.

Why is the show named 'Lift Karade'?

Well that's a surprise for which you will have to wait when it goes on air on 1st of January.

Which fan was craziest of them all?

I have shot 4 episodes till now with Shah Rukh, Priyanka, Kajol and John Abraham and all four of them have their unusual fans who have wholeheartedly come to the show. If one hears about their story and how they have reached the show, one will come to know their level of madness. Every fan was crazy and obsessed about their favourite stars and it would be difficult for me to tell who was the craziest.

What was the criteria of choosing a fan?

This is a nation wide hunt, and the concept will be revealed only on the show, but whatever these fans did to reach inside the studio to meet the stars is really heartening.

Who is your favourite star?

My favourite star is Shah Rukh Khan and there is absolutely no question about it. He is special to me emotionally and professionally. I have grown up with him career wise but this year I would like to talk about one man in particularl and that is Amitabh Bachchan. He is the legend of our country and will always be because he has proved in the movie 'Paa' that he can do anything. To bring about such passion on-screen in such a manner is amazing. When I am that age I think I'll be under MRI scan and doctor's supervision all through. The way he is working with so much passion and intensity all you want to say to Amitabh Bachchan is 'What a man!'

To what extent would you go to meet your favourite Film star?

I am fortunate that I don't have to go to any extent as I have already met them. I have grown up in front of Amit uncle and I have been with Shah Rukh since the day one of my career so, I feel very blessed that I know people like them and that I live in the age where they act and work.

Do you consider SRK your lucky mascot?

Shah Rukh and my mother are my lucky mascots. I was happy to shoot my first episode for 'Lift Karade' with Shah Rukh and it is pleasure to have him any day on my show and my earlier talk shows too opened with him on both seasons.

Can we call you SRK's biggest fan?

If you watch 'Lift Karade' you'll come to know what these fans are ready to do for their superstars. It is something which I would never be able to do.

Did you come across any of your fan on the show?

The show wasn't about me and I am sure directors must also be having fans but the show is about Superstar's fans and not of directors so, sadly I won't be able to meet any of my fans.

Shahrukh, Priyanka, DiCaprio in a Hollywood film?

Legendary filmmaker-scriptwriter Paul Schrader is ready to begin filming 'Xtreme City', yet another Hollywood film set in Mumbai. But unlike Danny Boyle's 'Slummdog Millionaire', 'Xtreme City' will not showcase the grimy underbelly of the city.

"My film will not be a shanty film. Not like Slumdog Millionaire at all, thank you." Schrader said. In case you didn't already know, Paul Schrader is the screenwriter of such critically acclaimed films as 'Taxi Driver' and 'The Last Temptation of Christ'. Schrader said that his film will be the total opposite of 'Slumdog', and that it would show Mumbai at its colourful best. "I have scoured Mumbai and have looked at locations. But unlike Slumdog, my focus will not be shanties. Slumdog was too British...and too one-sided. Danny Boyle's film, well...It seems that India is boiling with poverty all the time. That is the way the West wants to see it. But my film will be different."

"Between any two buildings, there is bound to be some space for somebody to live in, a shanty, may be. That is not my primary concern. Xtreme City will show Mumbai at its colourful best." he added. There were rumours that Priyanka Chopra and Shahrukh Khan are in negotiations to star in the film. However, Schrader stated that the Indian cast has not been confirmed yet, but that Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio are being considered for the role of the American hero. "All talk of Indian number 1 Shah Rukh Khan having confirmed as the Indian hero is mere imagination. For the American hero, the names of Brad Pitt and Leonardo Dicaprio are being actively pursued. Shooting for the film will begin early next year." he said.

Schrader confirmed that 'Xtreme City' would follow the naach-gaana formula of a Bollywood movie and that there would be at least five songs in the film. Goes without saying, AR Rahman is his first choice to score the music. "There will be at least five songs and dances in the film, typically Indian stuff. This will attempt to be the first crossover potboiler. A Bollywood potboiler used to have a dozen songs earlier, a comedy had around eight...I think now it can be five and we are safe," he said."I would love A.R. Rehman to score the music. He is the Everest of Indian music. I intend to make a real pop cultural hybrid. There will be commerce at its best. The film will show a city where contradictions live side by side."

"In other films, my goal was art...this time, my goal is commerce and I am clear about that. The only film of mine with which I can compare the script of Xtreme City is Yakuzo directed by Sydney Pollack in 1976." Co-producer Mushtaq Sheikh and co-writer said, "Other films show India's pimples...we will show the dimples. Slumdog Millioanire cannot be the end point of all matters Mumbai. This "White man, please save me,' syndrome is disgusting. We are not going to allow milking this city dry because the West wants to live in that myth."

Shahrukh writes well with Linc pen

Whether Shahrukh Khan used a Linc pen to sign on the dotted line when Linc Pen renewed its contract with the superstar for a further one year, may not be known. But what is known is that the company is very happy with its brand ambassador.

Buzz up
According to the company's spokesperson, Linc's national share has grown and this year they are already growing sales at 15% as compared to 7% last year. It seems not just in films, Shahrukh seems to be in synch with the public even when it comes to Linc pens. So while on one hand a big cola brand like Pepsi has dropped SRK as their brand ambassador, the King Khan is still a mega favourite many other brands.

My Name is Khan can't compete at Berlin

With the good news comes the bad news as well. The good news is that Fox Star Studios, international partners on My Name Is Khan, has decided to premiere the film at the 60th Berlin Film Festival in February 2010, in the most prestigious Competition section.

However, the bad news is that they have not allowed the film to compete with other films in the section. The reason for the same is unknown.

Karan doesn't deny the news but pooh-poohs the belief that the global corporates are trying to bully him into submission. He says, "Yes, the decision to place our film in the Competition section without competing was taken entirely by Fox Star. Shah Rukh and I are completely one with it. We are just happy to be in the same section as the new films by Martin Scorsese and Roman Polanski. Fox Star has been on the same page as me from the start. Shah Rukh, Kajol and I are getting ready for Berlin. It will be the first full-fledged screening of our film. We are anxious to see how the global audience at Berlin reacts to it."

According to sources, Fox Star has grown progressively wary of the 9/11 angle in cinema and has asked Karan to tone it down as far as possible. Apparently, the filmmaker was asked to change the trailer for the premiere of My Name Is Khan (unveiled last week) so that overt references to terrorism are done away with. Karan was also asked to stress on the fact that the film is not about 9/11 and terrorism. Karan dismisses the news. He says, "Fox Star knew exactly what My Name Is Khan is about. It's a fact that the film is not about terrorism. Yes, 9/11 does form a background to the tale, but the film is a love story and a story of humanism under pressure."

Apparently, there is also a fear that Shah Rukh Khan's smaller-than-life role as an autistic Muslim, fighting injustice in the US may not go down well with his fans. Karan laughs at the rumours. He says, "That is such an erroneous interpretation of Shah Rukh's character. He plays a man with a disability who can see the world around him far more clearly than the so-called normal people. He is a superman with a soul pure enough to fly. No, I don't think his fans would be disappointed just because he isn't larger-thanlife in Khan. Shah Rukh's fans all over the world want to see him in roles that connect the reality of cinema with the reality of the world outside the theatre."

Vijay Singh, CEO, Star Fox Studios, also insists that the film is not about terrorism. He says, "My Name Is Khan is a love story and Shah Rukh Khan's character's journey to win back his love. It has nothing to do with terrorism."

The night was ‘Khan’tastic!

And here they were at this magnificent night! Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Saif Ali Khan made their grand appearances at Aamir's big night on Wednesday at a multiplex, SRK and Salman coming in solo, while the Chhote Nawab walked in with girlfriend Kareena Kapoor, the lady looking fab as always in a red saree. Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani looked as if they had smelt laughing gas, they just couldn't stop smiling at people, after all, it was their night as well! Aamir's wife Kiran Rao seemed to be in a Christmasy mood, dressed in a bright red top. Other biggies who made their presence felt here were Anil and Tina Ambani who came with their son, Sanjay Dutt looking dapper in a suit, Karan Johar, Yash Birla in a white ganji showing off his tattoo and Yash Chopra. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Mona Singh, Chetan Bhagat with wife Anusha, Jaaved Jafferi, Dia Mirza and Kunal Kapoor were some of the others who walked the red carpet that night.

l When Anil Kapoor walked in, Vidhu told the shutterbugs to click the birthday boy's pictures. Naturally, Anil couldn't stop himself from grinning ear to ear after that!
l Salman may have walked in happily from the front entrance but when it came to leaving, the actor chose to exit from the back gate.

Karan Johar is SRK’s biggest fan

Sony's new show "Lift Karade…' gives a golden opportunity for fans to meet their favourite superstar. The questioning will be done by host Karan Johar, but any guesses who is KJo's favourite? You are absolutely correct, it is Shah Rukh Khan.

"Of course, there are no guesses there. Shah Rukh Khan is my favourite star. I have a very special bond with him professionally and emotionally. I have grown up with him career wise" says Karan firmly about his favourite star.

Everyone is aware about Kjo and SRK's closeness and friendship, so Karan did not have to stand in line for auditions to meet SRK, "I have been lucky to be associated with stars like him and Amitabh Bachchan. I have never had to do things that other fans have to do when they come on the "Lift Kara de' show" says an obliged Karan.

For Karan and his new show "it's all about loving your favourite star'. Right Karan?

TNN 24 December 2009, 01:39pm IST Text Size: |

When two kings meet it usually leads to a war, but in Jashn 2010 – Dhamaka Naye Saal Ka, it led to celebrations. We are talking here about the moment Shah Rukh Khan came face to face with Chief Minister Ashok Chavan at an event, recently shot at the Andheri Sports Complex in Mumbai.

It was raining stars at the event, as the entire Bollywood industry was present and presented exceptionally spectacular performances to entertain the Mumbai Police and their families. To add to the fun, ace director Karan Johar did a spoof on his own show and called it "Koffee with Kops" and what better way to do it than having the Badshah of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan as his special guest.

Shah Rukh and Karan were high on energy with their Q & As. In the final question, asked about his one wish from the Government, he said "I would request the Government to do as much as they can, in whatever way possible be it monetarily or socially for the welfare of the Mumbai Police and its families."
Within an hour's time, Mumbai CM Ashok Chavan declared a sum of Rs 5 crores to be utilized for the welfare of the Mumbai Police and their families. If this was not enough, Amitabh Bachhan, who was also present with his daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachhan offered a sum of Rs 11 lakhs on his behalf for the same cause.

Now that's what we call is the impact of our Badshah. It was indeed an unforgettable evening which will always be remembered for its causes. All thanks to Shah Rukh's noble wish!

SRK avoids Salman at 3 Idiots premiere

What's SRK doing with bikini babes?

Wondering what Shah Rukh Khan was doing at an event with bikini clad models on the ramp? Well, he was launching a new drink in town! And if you thought SRK or the drink was hot, wait till you see the fashion show that set off the event. Take a look!

Aamir Khan 3 IDIOTS premiere attended by Shah Rukh, Salman, Big B skips!!

Aamir Khan, the  perfectionist super star of bollywood  who had vowed to assemble all the three big Khans—Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and himself—of bollywood for the premiere of his latest flick '3 Idiots', succeeded when King Khan and macho Sallubhai made appearances at a multiplex last night.

Initially, it was Salman Khan, with whom Aamir Khan has an excellent rapport, made an appearance at the venue. Till the time Salman Khan was present, there was no sign of Shah Rukh Khan at the premiere of Aamir Khan-Kareena Kapoor starrer '3 Idiots.'

However, as soon as Salman left, Shah Rukh Khan descended on the scene for a brief period, perhaps to keep the promise that he had made to Aamir Khan by confirming his participation at the premiere. Sources say that Shah Rukh Khan did not give much time at the venue as he had to go out of city with Gauri and children for Christmas vacation.

But, Amitabh Bachchan's absence was clearly felt at the venue. Saif Ali Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Kiran Rao(Aamir's better half), Sharman Joshi, R Madhavan, Rajkumar Hirani, Vidhu Vinod Chopra were also present on the occasion.

Though Amitabh Bachchan was expected to attend the premiere but seems to have changed his plans at the last moment. Different theories are doing the rounds in the industry in this regard. While some attribute it to his busy schedule, others see into it not so successful partnership between Aamir Khan's '3 idiots' and Big B's 'Paa' during  publicity drive of the flicks( Bachchans wanted joint publicity, but it did not work out).

But it did not dampen Aamir Khan's irrepressible spirit at the mega- premiere. In fact, he was seen continuing with his efforts to promote the hand-woven garments from Chanderi by wearing a hand-woven Sabyasachi suit on the occasion. Aamir continued to welcome the guest with smile, despite of suffering from a high fever.

Even Aamir Khan's wife Kiran Rao, clad in a dazzling sari, was making every effort to make the guests comfortable in every possible way. Chetan Bhagat, the writher of 'Five Point Someone' and Kiran were seen discussing some important matter very animatedly.

Kareena Kapoor, who wore a sari for the occasion, was looking stunningly beautiful. She was accompanied by her beau Saif Ali Khan. Kareena Kapoor plays the character of Pia in '3 Idiots', who is in love with Rancho (Aamir plays the part of Rancho). Kareena Kapoor and Aamir Khan's rain dance in '3 Idiots' has already become talk of the town.

Sanjay Dutt, who does not figure in Rajkumar Hirani's latest flick '3 Idiots', came for the old time's sake (he was the hero of two 'Munnabhai' flicks made by Hirani). However, Sanjay's better half Manyata Dutt was missing from his side. Sources say that Manyata was expecting, and perhaps due to this reason did not accompany Sanjubaba.

Imran Khan, the latest heartthrob of bollywood, was present on the occasion with beau Avantika. Others who attended the premiere included Mansoor Khan, Bhushan Kumar, Mona Singh etc.

The fear of My Name is Khan

Shah Rukh Khan's next My Name Is Khan is almost two months away from release but the tremors of its run up are already being
felt. Films which were scheduled to release around a couple of weeks after February 12 are now likely to be postponed to a safer date. Talking about the release of his film Apartment director Jagmohan Mundhra says the film was scheduled to release in February. "However now that the big fat white elephant called My Name Is Khan is scheduled to release on February 12 we have to figure out a date which would be safer for a small film like mine," says Mudhra. Apartment is a thriller starring Neetu Chandra, Tanushree Dutta and Rohit Roy. Similarly many other producers are rescheduling the promotion campaigns of the film. Interestingly even Amitabh Bachchan's Teen Patti, which also stars Ben Kingsley and R Madhavan and has been directed by Leena Yadav, has also been shifted to February 26.

Shah Rukh Khan protects Asin at event

This is one incident that Asin Thottumkal won't forget in a hurry. At a recent event she was surrounded by around 300 people who had got too close for comfort. However, it was none other than Shah Rukh Khan who came to her rescue. Had Shah Rukh not intervened in the nick of time, this would perhaps have been Asin's worst experience in Mumbai.

An actor who was present there said, "The organisers had made a make-shift cubicle near the backstage where the stars were ushered in before they were supposed to go on stage. Asin was about to enter the cubicle when the incident occurred."

She suddenly found herself surrounded by 300 people. She had only her spokesperson for company. Even as the duo was screaming for help, the crowd got within touching distance. Asin panicked when some over-enthusiastic fans tried to touch her on the pretext of shaking her hand. That was when Shah Rukh, who was supposed to go on stage next, intervened.

"He immediately ordered his bodyguards to cut through the crowd and reach Asin. Before the crowd could realise what was happening, Shah Rukh with his six bodyguards reached where Asin was standing. He grabbed her hand with his right hand and with his left, he caught hold of Asin's spokesperson and dragged them outside the melee," the actor added.

Shah Rukh's bodyguards have been trained in crowd management and they immediately formed a ring around Asin and Shah Rukh.

"Shah Rukh and Asin had a long chat after the incident. He advised her on her security and also told her to keep two bodyguards for public appearances," the actor added. Though Asin didn't deny the incident, she didn't want to comment on it further.

SRK: Karan’s (films) complete me!

"This one is bigger than all the films Karan has made or produced before. He is a great director because he keeps us happy on the sets, he jokes around while he makes us work. MNIK wouldn't have been without all the production assistants, who did the running around behind the scenes," said SRK

"Khan (the film), according to me, is one of the nicest film stories I have participated in. I can take the liberty to say that I have participated in some of the best love stories in Bollywood. This film is a beautiful journey of two lovers. One is a physical journey; the other is an emotional journey to find love in spite of all the obstacles. At the end, like all love stories, these lovers cross all obstacles to come together. It is a very joyful film about hope, love and positivity. Karan has made a very different kind of cinema while retaining the Karan Johar-ishness that he is known for. I truly believe that Indian cinema and Kajol and my careers would have been incomplete without Karan's cinema," SRK beamed with pride.

Rizwan Khan suffers from Asperger's Syndrome, a type of autism. Talking about preparing for his role, he said, "When I was doing theatre is Delhi, I interacted with children with special abilities. I drew from those experiences. I had also read a book called The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time by Mark Haddon, so that helped me too. Also, Karan and Shibani have researched the film immensely well, and he has directed this film in a way different from the previous films we have made before. Usually people associate me with caricatures and overacting, I don't know why, but MNIK, I can promise, is a touching and straight-from-the-heart film and performance," concluded SRK.

SRK on My Name is Khan

'My Name is Khan' is not only a big achievement for all of us for many reasons but also because Karan Johar is a wonderful director. He is a little intense but keeps us happy on the sets.  'My Name is Khan' is the journey of two lovers, Kajol and me. It's a physical and an emotional journey for me and I overcome all these obstacles. It is a film about hope. It is a film about love. What is special is that Karan has retained the 'Karan Joharishness' in the film despite it being a very intense one. This, despite it being a very serious subject. Karan completes our journey as an actor through his film. The film is also very special because Kajol took some time to give her nod as we had to coax her a lot. But finally she agreed to work with me and thus it is like getting the old team back.

The story

The film is about Rizwan Khan (SRK) who suffers from Asperger syndrome, a form of autism that affects social interaction abilities. The fact that they are recognising a Karan Johar film as a film that they can release on an international platform is good for Indian cinema. If I am not wrong, I think it is a great honour in itself. Hopefully, our film is good enough that it will take all of us – you, me, Karan and the whole film industry – a step forward to the next level.

His character

Every actor has the desire to do something special. I have to thank Karan and Kajol for my role in the film. Karan for thinking of me in this character, and Kajol for helping me develop the character.

Love
The film is all about how love can conquer anything. There is a beautiful dialogue in the film, which says, 'I have learnt how to love.' It's not just about Asperger's syndrome but also about humanity.

Research
Two years back I used to work with specially challenged children. I grew up with them. I also read a book 'Curious Incident of A Dog In the Middle of Time'." I studied that these children learnt physical control and speech control. Karan gave me a lot of freedom to try various aspects for the role. I hope it will help people afflicted by this syndrome. Karan and his writer Shibani Bhatija have gone through a lot of research. Karan is a nice director to work with. I wish that all actors will work with him and at the same time I wish that he will work only with me.

Promotions
I have no plans to vanish from the promotions. I am going to be here. I think controversy is a very delicate word which can be used to your advantage. Every film has its own way of being marketed. It is our duty to market the film.

Berlin Film Festival
'My Name is Khan' has been selected to show at the Berlin International Film Festival which takes place from February 11-21, 2010. I'm so excited. Of course, I'll be going there with Karan and Kajol! There's nothing as prestigious as presenting our film at the Berlin film festival's official selection. Even more than awards, it's getting eyeballs at such a festival – that is important.

SRK or Sallu who will be first to feature on KJo's Lift Kara De?

While channel wants Sallu to feature first in Karan Johar's new show, the producers want SRK. Who'll blink first?

That is the big question. While the channel is leaning towards Salman (who hosts 10 Ka Dum for them), Karan and the show's producer (Yash Raj) would obviously prefer Shah Rukh to set the ball rolling

Lift Kara De premieres on Sony in January. It is one of the shows that marks Yash Raj Films' foray into television. It will have 20 episodes where B-Town's biggest stars meet and interact with their biggest fans.

While Karan has already shot for an episode with Priyanka Chopra last week, sources indicate there is an internal lobbying on which male star to shoot with first. Shah Rukh and Salman Khan are in the reckoning.

The source says, "It's a new concept and they want to open big. It can't get bigger than Shah Rukh or Salman. Since the channel has worked with the latter and is comfortable with him, they want him to be a guest before SRK. On the other hand Yash Raj and Karan have a great personal rapport with SRK. So their choice is obvious."
The source adds that Karan is keen on having both actors on the show. However, unless the production house and the channel come to a consensus soon, the delay will continue.

SRK: Not without my daughter!

The Badshah, who is known to be a very hands on parent, held daughter Suhana's hand while he waited for wife Gauri and her friend Sussanne Khan to finish powdering their noses. Those who saw young Suhana couldn't help, but notice how the little one was aping mom Gauri in her dressing style.

However it was dad SRK with whom she shared a terrific rapport. The papa's laadli left dad only to make a quick trip to the restroom. However the moment she was done, she rushed straight back into his arms. And, of course SRK was delighted. After all, the doting dad loves his kids and spends every minute that he can with them.

Shahrukh suffers Asperger's syndrome!

We have seen Shahrukh Khan playing a psycho character in movies like Darr and Anjaam.

Now, in his upcoming flick 'My Name is Khan', Shahrukh is playing a character of Rizvan Khan who has Asperger's syndrome, a form of autism.

King Khan says, "In Asperger's syndrome, one half of the brain is more developed than the other. So the person ends up thinking very logically as the emotional side is not completely developed. That's the reason Rizvan has problems socialising and is afraid of crowds. In fact, people having Asperger's often find it difficult to show any emotion."

Shahrukh is very excited about the movie which is going to release in February next year.

‘The nicest love story’

Shah Rukh Khan says My Name is Khan is a story about hope, love and positivity

SHAH RUKH KHAN may have two decades of experience playing the romantic hero but the actor says that My Name is Khan, where he plays an autistic man mistaken for a terrorist, is the "nicest love story I have ever worked in".

"It is the physical and emotional journey, that the two characters Rizwan and Mandira (SRK and Kajol) go through to find love. The story is about hope, love and positivity," SRK told reporters after unveiling the first look of the film which releases in February 2010.

"It's about humanity, love and sacrifice and not religion. The film is a fiction  based on 9/11," he said.  The 44-year-old actor who has also co-produced the film said that Kajol and director Karan Johar supported him in the endeavour to make the "biggest film" of their careers.

"They gave me freedom to make mistakes and improve my performance during the shooting. Karan is an intense director with a sense of humour. I, Kajol and Karan understand each other completely as professionals. We need not say things to each other," said the actor.

MNK is Karan's ultimate evolution: SRK

Putting speculations to rest, director-producer Karan Johar said that his forthcoming film My Name Is Khan, that has Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in main leads, has nothing to do with terrorism.

My Name is Khan has nothing to do with terrorism. It is not a terrorism-based plot at all. It is a humanitarian tale about love and sacrifice," Karan told reporters after unveiling the first look of My Name Is Khan at JW Marriot Hotel here Wednesday.

The film's story revolves around Rizwan Khan (Shah Rukh) who suffers from Asperger syndrome, a form of autism. Rizwan falls in love with a single mother Mandira (Kajol) who lives in San Francisco. Rizwan is detained by authorities at Los Angeles International Airport, mistaking his disability for "suspicious" behaviour.

"It is about overcoming a phase, it is about triumph of the human spirit," said Karan.

Shah Rukh and Karan's last outing together Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006) couldn't spell magic at the box office.

But the superstar seems to be pretty impressed with Karan's work in My Name Is Khan and said that the film is the ultimate evolution of the director's work.

"I have worked with Karan in his first film (Kuch Kuch Hota Hai) and has been with him all through his journey. I think My Name Is Khan is his ultimate evolution," said Shah Rukh.

"In this film, the way Karan has touched upon the scenes and sequences, it is very different from his all previous films," he added.

The film is slated to release on February 12 next year.

‘Idiot’ an SRK Fan?

The Khans won't like it but it's true. South Indian heartthrob R. Madhavan - Maddy -    was offered the role of Shah Rukh Khan's brother in 'My Name is Khan' (MNIK). But due to date problems with '3 Idiots', the role finally went to Jimmy Shergill.

It's a fact that Maddy is an admirer of the King Khan and in his debut vehicle in Hindi 'Rehena Hai Tere Dil Mein' with Diya Mirza, the actor was pointed out for being inspired by Bollywood's most romantic hero 'Shahrukh'.

Once a fan always a fan; it's been heard that Maddy has expressed his overwhelming desire to watch the King Khan next 'MNIK' and he cant wait to see his favorite actor SRK perform, who by the promo itself is getting inspiring responses. Maddy also hopes to work with his favorite actor next time as he missed the opportunity this time.

The praise coming at this particular point may not go well with Aamir as the film '3 Idiots' is hitting the screen in Xmas season and Aamir is going all round the country to promote his film.

It must be recalled that Maddy had an important role in Rakeysh Mehra's 'Rang De Basanti' starring Aamir. Its battle time our bee declares as Maddy can't wait for 'MNIK', Aamir can't wait for '3 Idiots' and our Bee can't wait to bring the latest on this Khan war.

SRK, Yash Chopra's van-derful moment!

Ever since Shah Rukh Khan purchased the costliest and biggest vanity van which has all the modern amenities, his favourite filmmaker Yash Chopra
Shah Rukh Khan and Yash Chopra

has been very keen to see it. Tickled by curiosity, he had expressed his wish to Shah Rukh. After all, it's a swanky, fully loaded van fit for a superstar.

For quite some time, Yash Chopra has wanted to see Shah Rukh's fancy van. Yesterday, Shah Rukh was scheduled to shoot for YRF's TV show (hosted by Karan Johar) at their Andheri studio. Shah Rukh seized this opportunity to show it to Yash Chopra and travelled to the shoot in his vanity van.

Normally, no actor is allowed to take his vanity van inside, but yesterday Shah Rukh was given a special concession.

As soon as Shah Rukh drove in at 4.30pm, Yash Chopra came out. Shah Rukh emerged from the van, held Yash Chopra's hand and took him inside. "Yash considers Shah Rukh as his son. Shah Rukh also has very high regard for Yash Chopra," said our source.

Yash Raj's head honcho spent a full 30 minutes inside the van where Shah Rukh showed him all the amenities very respectfully. "He loved the van. It's like a one-bedroom house," our source added.

Shah Rukh mentors Vivek Oberoi

Shah Rukh Khan is playing mentor to none other than Vivek Oberoi who was secluded by almost everyone in the industry. The young actor is currently staging a big comeback that started off with Kurbaan and he is following it up with Prince and Paritala Ravi. Vivek says he is thankful to SRK for being there when people had rubbished him.

Industry gossip has it that it is Shah Rukh who had advised him to patch up with his foes post which he had buried the hatchet with Ram Gopal Varma and is trying his level best to come in the good books of the Bachchan family despite he had a fall out with them when Aishwarya Rai became the Bachchan bahu.

An industry source says: "Vivek has been really trying hard to mend the things that he has done to stage a great comeback. He needs the support of all his industry colleagues and since he has been close to Karan Johar, automatically he has come close to SRK. Shah Rukh has sat with him and made him understand the importance of having friends and has
advised him to patch up with as many people as possible. From the Bachchans to Sanjay Dutt to Salman Khan to Ekta Kapoor and even Aditya Chopra, Vivek is on the bad books of many influential industrywallas."

The informer adds: "During a recent premiere of a Hollywood movie, Vivek was one of the invitees at the event that also saw SRK and the entire Bachchan family drop in. Vivek exchanged pleasantries with the family. He had also been to Teji Bachchan's funeral, the first sign of him trying to come close to the family. He has managed to soften the family's approach for sure as when they meet him, there is no sign of animosity between them. All this has happened thanks to SRK's advice."

Vivek says: "Shah Rukh Khan has been very kind. He has been with me when I was really going through a rough phase. Without him I couldn't have bounced back. His words of wisdom will always be treasured by me."

Priyanka: SRK, sir?

Priyanka Chopra is on cloud nine. Certainly not because she exchanged pleasantries with Akshay Kumar at some awards night, but because the
Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan praised her to the press at the media showcase of My Name Is Khan. No wonder the actress can't stop gushing.

At the event talking about Priyanka, Shah Rukh said, "Priyanka is one of the finest actresses of this generation. Five years down the line, Priyanka will still be on top. She has tremendous appeal as an actress and her voice and diction is terrific."

SRK, who has worked with PC in Don and will be seen with her in the sequel — Don 2, says, "Priyanka is disciplined, talented and a very professional girl. I'm fond of her."

The superstar recalls how PC embarrassed him on their first meeting by telling him that she was barely 12 when she saw Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. "I felt old," he jokes.

What is more SRK, said PC has never taken his name all these years despite having worked with him. PC on her part says, "I'm Shah Rukh's most ardent fan. When I was younger, my parents would have to put on Chamatkar for me, if they wanted me to eat my food. I have seen the film at least 35 times."

PC adds, "I can't address SRK by his name, and I don't want to call him 'Sir' because I think that is too formal. Also the truth is, when SRK is around, I'm normally speechless. Seeing my icon in flesh has that effect on me."
The Kaminey actress says, "I'm truly happy that SRK and his wife Gauri are my well-wishers."

'My name is Khan... Shah Rukh Khan'

Shah Rukh Khan Kajol My Name is Khan

Bollywood's most lovable couple Raj and Simran is back! This time around as Mandira and Rizwan, in the most awaited film of the year My Name is Khan directed by Karan Johar.

At an event to unveil the first look of their film, Bollywood's famous jodi SRK-Kajol who have come together after eight long years onscreen, displayed some lovely moments, proving how their sizzling chemistry still remains intact.

For starters, they praised each other's histrionics and credited Karan for bringing out the best in them. It was very endearing to see the lovely Kajol leaning and holding SRK's arms while watching the sneak preview of the film. "He is grown a little taller and developed a good body, great six packs," said Kajol when asked to point out the changes she found in Shah Rukh, since their last film Kabhi Khusi Kabhi Gham.

Kajol also thanked Kjo for giving her such a wonderful film and an opportunity to work with SRK again. "I think this film completes us as actors. I am sure Shah Rukh will agree," she said and let the men on the podium, especially SRK to take the action forward.

When SRK talked, like always, the press was all eyes and ears for no star can ever strike a better conversation with the media than SRK.

SRK, Kajol promote My Name Is Khan

Shah Rukh Khan's new film My Name Is Khan was unveiled at a grand function at Mumbai's J W Marriott on Thursday.

The superstar was present along with his leading lady in the film, Kajol, director Karan Johar and the CEO of Star TV Uday Kumar.

SRK was quite candid about his plans of promoting his film and did not seem too impressed about Aamir Khan's marketing plans to sell his December release 3 Idiots.

Aamir, for those who still don't know, has been traveling around India in various disguises, challenging people to recognise him before his film releases.

"I am sorry to use the word but it is chichorapan to do something like this -- to create controversy to sell a film. As far of promoting MNIK is concerned, I think every film has its own strategy. If we are asked to go to other states to promote the film, we surely will do it. But if you are asking if I will vanish, I don't know. I am still here," SRK said.

SRK claimed that his detention at the Newark airport in the US last August was not a publicity gimmick to promote MNIK. "As an Indian, a Muslim, an actor and a star I have always been respected. I have never had an issue like this in my life. My detention did not have anything to do with the film. Things like this just happen," he said.

Karan Johar supported SRK by saying, "I think certain things just happen and we get unnecessary credit for it. When Wake Up Sid got into a controversy, people thought it was a strategy.

"Similarly, when Shah Rukh was detained at the Newark airport, people asked me if it was a marketing strategy. If I had so much influence on the Homeland security, I think I wouldn't be where I am now. I would be sitting next to (US President) Obama now."

MNIK sees SRK play an autistic Rizwan Khan, who falls in love with Kajol's Mandira. The film is set against the backdrop of  9/11.
