SRK surprises Vineet

Shah Rukh Khan may have a big heart but he ensures that his generosity does not come in the way of his work and superstitions.

Recently, the actor gifted his favourite watch to a reality show contestant, Vineet Singh on his request, but just as quickly took it back and instead gave Vineet a brand new one. The old watch was required for the continuity scenes of one of his films and is also believed to be SRK's lucky watch.

Confirming the news, Vineet says, "On the show, while giving me the watch, Shah Rukh told me 'although I am giving it to you now, I need it back as it will affect the continuity of my film. However, tomorrow, I will call you to Mannat (SRK's residence) and give you a brand new watch.' So, as soon as the show got over, I returned the watch to him." A prompt call from SRK took Vineet by surprise. "I was so happy when I received a call from SRK. I was called to Mannat where I was gifted a brand new watch. He was also apologetic about not gifting me the earlier watch," adds Vineet.

Vineet should be slightly ashamed of himself. I understand that it was his birthday, but it is utterly disrespectful to go up to someone and demand that he give you a birthday present. When my friends and I were watching it, we were shocked. The boy is lucky he met such a big star - he should be overwhelmed and happy that he received the blessings of King Khan. If Shahrukh Khan had voluntarily expressed interest in giving Vineet a gift, then that would have been a different matter.

I grew up in India and we were taught some common courtesy. It's almost as embarrassing as calling up people a week before your birthday and ask them to buy you a present. You just don't do that. My mom would've been so ashamed of her nurturing if I had done something like that.

I am a Canadian citizen - I have been here since I was 10, but culture is something that is cultivated within you and it was so embarrassing to see Vineet act without any common sense or courtesy.
