Leading paint manufacturer Kansai Nerolac Paints (KNPL) today said it plans to invest Rs 600 crore to enhance its production capacity by 50 per cent over the next three years.
The company has also appointed Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan as brand ambassador for promoting its eco-friendly paints.
"We want to increase our production capacity by nearly 50 per cent in the next three years, for which we have earmarked an investment of around Rs 600 crore," KNPL Managing Director H M Bharuka told reporters here.
The popular superstar would be promoting the company''s eco-friendly and lead-free paints, he said.
"We have produced a wide range of eco-friendly products using advanced technology. We needed an ambassador who reflects this and who could help communicate the importance of eco-friendly paints to our consumers. Shah Rukh Khan was the perfect choice for this," Bharuka said.
Since Khan enjoyed a mass appeal, the message would easily reach consumers, he said.
KNPL, with a turnover of over Rs 1,900 crore, will also invest around Rs 78 crore for brand-building and for increasing the number of paint stores in the country, he said.
The company currently has 100 colour stylers and 25 impression style zone outlets and plans to add nearly 150 and 40 more, respectively, he said. .
