"Rizwaan Khan, my new avatar in MNIK," SRK replied flashing his dimpled smile. Truly so. As the new look of the film was unveiled there was a widespread buzz about the new avatar of the actor. SRK, perhaps in one of the most challenging role of his life, plays an autistic character in this film that examines how the life of a Muslim man from India living in San Francisco embarks on a remarkable journey across the United States, inspiring people and inviting debate, creating an accidental revolution.
"My Name Is Khan' is the most special film for both Karan Johar and me. And unlike the rumors, it's not about terrorism, or 9/11. It's about a relationship between two people, between an individual and the State, and between an individual and the country. In short, there the three important components: love story, Islam and a mild form of autism, which forms the core of MNIK ," explains the Bollywood Badshah.
When asked if he is trying to prove something with the title of the film, Shah RukhKhan says, "Then I could have made My Name is Shah Rukh . Right? So, no, this is not a self promotion vehicle. Please do not trivialize or deflect from the intention of the subject. The name of the Movie is relevant to the story that Karan and screenplay writer Shibani Bhatija have visualized."
How was it tying up with a global studio like Fox? "Initially I thought they were related to Megan Fox, so I was excited that I could get to marry her someday," said the witty SRK jokingly, "But seriously, it's a new beginning for all of us.... more so for Indian cinema that has entered world market without having to compromise on its terms, conditions, essence, which I believe is great. I thank Karan for making a film like this, and letting me be a part of it as an actor and a producer and Fox Studious for believing in us, our product and taking it up to the global audience," elaborates SRK.
