Trust Karan Johar to make his film look perfect. The director has already worked on making his film My Name is Khan look authentic. He is now planning to shoot for a flood sequence on the sets and has ordered for water in tankers for the scene.
But the kind director that he is, he did not want the team to fall sick after shooting for the whole day in waist-deep water. For that reason he got waterproof costumes made by designer Shiraj Siddiqui.
Karan is anxious, as this will be a difficult and intricate scene. The whole set will be under water for the next few days. This will be one of the most important parts of the film. Karan is very worried about the unit's health so everyone except Shahrukh Khan and Kajol will be wearing waterproof costumes, as the lead actors have to be seen in their look for the film. source: Oneindia
Here’s a piece of Shah Rukh Khan’s life in Hans Raj College. The actor dreamt of studying in LSE and spent hours outside Kirori Mal College
hoping he would get some acting assignments just like ‘Amit ji’ did!
Actor Shah Rukh Khan is a Hans Raj College alumnus. He graduated in Economics and not many know that SRK wanted to study further after completing his graduation (but he took up acting instead). When we met him on one of his recent visits to the city, he told us, “I was very fond of Economics. I got 72 per cent marks and I personally think that was a good enough percentage. Post Hans Raj, I wanted to join the London School of Economics but that didn’t happen. But I tell all the people I meet to read and write as much as they can. I tell my kids â€" Aryan and Suhanaâ€" to read a lot, as it is studying and acquiring more knowledge all the time that helps one in the long run.â€
What else does he remember of his days at Hans Raj â€" does he miss spending time in the canteen, like most other students do? “I remember going to the canteen but I have to admit that I wasn’t very social in college. But I do miss going to the canteen. I also miss my co-students and the hostellers’ fights. I was a keen sportsperson aur main bahut khelta tha. My favourite sport was football. I have fond memories of my bike too,†SRK told us.
And his life in college wasn’t just about sports, he developed an avid interest in acting in college too. He said, “I remember, my friends and I used to go and stand outside Kirori Mal College. We used to stand there for hours and look at the building, its gate and at the students going in and out of the college and say, ‘Kaash koi humein bhi, Amit ji ki tarah filmon mein kaam de de.’â€
He further recalls, “And in my time there used to be these races in college too. Hum university ke chakkar lagate the and I always used to win.â€
If he’d not become an actor, SRK says he would’ve “either been a teacher or a Manchester United player â€" I know that for a fact!â€
After designing costumes for his favourite actor Shah Rukh for a dozen of years, Karan Johar is officially going to launch his own line of clothing. The famed filmmaker will bring his prêt collection along with noted fashion designer Varun Bahl.
Karan Johar said to sources, "I have been designing for Shah Rukh Khan for 12 years and it is a given that he will be part of my first collection. It will be a menswear collection and will have several other elements which will be a pleasant surprise but I am still in the process of finalising these and so can't comment at the moment."
According to sources, Karan's collection will be launched on October 16th in the Couture week. The stars who are going to showcase Karan's clothing include Imran Khan, Ranbir Kapoor and the show-stopper of the show - Shah Rukh Khan. His wife too will walk the ramp and would be the only female model on the show.
MUMBAI: His last film Billu did not set the cash registers ringing and his cricket team, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) finished at the bottom in
the second season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). None of this seems to have deterred advertisers, who are still convinced about the brand equity of Shah Rukh Khan.
FMCG giant Colgate Palmolive has signed on SRK to be its new brand ambassador. The deal between the company and the actor was signed on Tuesday, according to a source familiar with the development. An announcement to this effect is expected in a couple of days.
Colgate-Palmolive is a key player in the oral care category — toothpaste, toothbrush, toothpowder and whitening products. Earlier, Saif Ali Khan and Asin Thottumkal have been the brand endorsers for Colgate Max Fresh. Representatives of Colgate Palmolive, when contacted, were not available for comment.
SRK has been associated with about 25 brands, among which are ICICI Bank, Dish TV, Nokia, Hyundai, Linc Pens, Compaq, Sunfeast, Emami, TAG Heuer, and Omega. It is estimated that the actor commands anywhere between Rs 3 and 9 crore for a brand endorsement. "The masses love SRK and Colgate is a brand that reaches out to the masses. SRK is considered a family man and Colgate too is a product for the entire family. Colgate considers many things before signing on an ambassador and his positives will override the negatives like him being a chain smoker," said Manish Porwal, CEO, Percept Talent Management.
The market share for Colgate Palmolive's oral care products saw a jump during the past quarter of FY09, according to the company's annual report. The market shares in the toothpaste segment increased by 3% to 52.2%, toothpowder by 1.2% to 48.9% while it was at 37.6% in toothbrushes. The Colgate-Palmolive stock was up by 0.39% on Tuesday.
Karan Johar will launch his own clothing line soon. Not surprisingly, Shah Rukh Khan will be the show
stopper...
Karan Johar has always had an abiding interest in fashion, whether it is as a designer for Shah Rukh Khan and other male stars or whether it is choosing his own clothes. In fact, he has often confessed to having so many clothes that he needs a whole separate apartment to accommodate them. A fact that he surely will keep in mind when he buys his next (sea facing) apartment.
While on the subject of clothes, he also confesses to having jeans and shirts in all sizes for the very unwelcome event that he might one day become fat again. "The trouble is, that in my mind I am still a fat boy," he admitted ruefully, one day.
And so it comes as no surprise at all to hear that Karan has now decided to launch his own clothing line in collaboration with Varun Bahl. Reportedly, it will be launched on October 16 at the couture week which will be on at that time. And we hear that while Imran Khan and Ranbir Kapoor will open the showing, the show stopper will be, but naturally, Shah Rukh Khan with Gauri Khan being the only female model.
Karan Johar confirmed that he was launching his own line with Varun Bahl. "I have been designing for Shah Rukh Khan for 12 years and it is a given that he will be part of my first collection. It will be a menswear collection and will have several other elements which will be a pleasant surprise but I am still in the process of finalising these and so can't comment at the moment," he said.
The line will be called 'Karan Johar with Varun Bahl'

So what's the actual price of 'My Name Is Khan'? Has Fox Star Studios India paid a massive Rs. 100 crores for the global rights of the film [excluding music rights]? Or is the actual price Rs. 81 crores? The speculation continues... "It's a privilege to be associated with Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan. It can't get bigger than that. But the price is completely not 100 crores or 81 crores. I wouldn't like to reveal the exact numbers, but it's completely off the mark," Vijay Singh, CEO of Fox Star Studios India, breaks his silence on this topic.
But what holds significance is that the film in question would be released extensively in the international markets. "My Name Is Khan has tremendous international appeal and would be released by Fox Searchlight in America and 20th Century Fox across the globe. We aren't looking at a fancy print count to begin with, but we would take it beyond the Indian diaspora. Like 'Slumdog Millionaire' was released at a mere 10 screens when it started out in America, but the screen count gradually rose to almost 3,000, thanks to a systematic strategy. That would be the strategy for 'My Name Is Khan' as well," Vijay Singh divulges.
Mumbai: If you ever doubted Shah Rukh's popularity around the globe then read this on. You would be surprised that his popularity goes beyond the Big B or Akki, he out runs all!
A group of tourists found themselves lost in the winding tangling streets of Naples and when no help came in the confusion of less English and more Italian. The tour group happened to meet a youngster named Giovanni who happened to be knowing India as the native country of Shah Rukh Khan.
With his broken Italian, English and Hindi he even sang Tujhe Dekha Toh Yeh Jana Sanam and claimed that his is a diehard fan of the actor. He even hopes to visit Mannat, Shah Rukh's house.
Well, he guided the tour to their destination and when asked if he knows Amitabh Bachchan or Akshay Kumar, the response was negatives, he never heard of them.
He said "I love Shaaruk". We also love him right? At least when lost we would remember to take his name!
