Arjun plays baddie in RA.One

If Shah Rukh Khan fans are under the impression that the King Khan plays the title role in his most awaited multi-crore extravaganza, here is a bit of a surprise.

Contrary to the popular belief, Arjun Rampal and not Shah Rukh essays the character named RA.One in the film of the same name, to be directed by Anubhav Sinha.

A reliable source reveals, "Shah Rukh Khan will be seen in a double role in the film. One of his characters is that of a scientist who creates two robots-the good robot is G.One.

And the bad one is RA.One, While Shah Rukh plays the good robot, G.One, it's Arjun Rampal who is playing the bad robot, RA.One."

When contacted, director Anubhav Sinha promptly says, "Let others decide who is Ra.One and G.One. There are no robots in the film." But he later did confirm, "Shah Rukh does play G.One."

SRK has his eyes set on 2011

Superstar is the most abused epithet in Bollywood. The phrase-strapped fourth estate uses it to describe star sons, non-actors, average performers and muscle-men. However, when you say the words King Khan or the Badshah of Bollywood, only one name springs to mind — Shah Rukh Khan.

And 2010 saw SRK score many goals. He partnered Karan Johar on My Name is Khan, a film that went on to become the highest overseas Bollywood grosser, in which his superlative performance silenced critics who have often accused him of using only his charisma on screen.

He led his IPL team to better averages than in previous years; his team is also one of the most cash-rich cricket franchises.

When a political party tried to bulldoze him, he simply refused to bow to pressure. In his inimitable style, SRK reigned.

The only ones who had complaints against him are his fans who felt they didn't get to see enough of him. As the sun set on 2010, SRK promised that in the New Year all this is about to change.

In the next 365 days, SRK will release his most ambitious home production RA One, and he will also capture Christmas Eve with Don-2. A trade source says, "He may also do a film for veteran Yash Chopra in March, and is committed to do Two States with Vishal Bharadwaj around July.''

Work comes first for SRK!

Shah Rukh missed three flights to Dubai because he was shooting a promo. He flew the next day to join his family

This is one starry flight. Superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who was shooting a promo for his next TV show, Zor Ka Jhatka, booked three flights to Dubai at three different timings, all business class.

All in his name. One flight was at 10pm, the next at 12am and the one after that at 4am. Why would you spend so much money? Well, he was uncertain when the shoot would end.

The actor had to fly to Dubai to bring in New Year's Eve with family and friends.

King Khan began shooting on Wednesday at Film City from early evening; the shoot was scheduled for merely a few hours.

Rukh's entire clan (including his friends) had already flown out to Dubai. Sadly, he couldn't make it to any of these flights since the shoot went way beyond time.

Nikhil Madhok, senior director of marketing and communications of the channel airing Zor Ka Jhatka, confirmed the story. "Shah Rukh booked three flights for three different timings on his own.

We weren't even aware of this. The shoot went beyond time and sadly the actor could not take any flights.

He eventually flew the next afternoon."

Newcomer to join SRK in 'Two States'

Director Vishal Bhardwaj will reportedly launch a "new face" opposite Shah Rukh Khan Two States.

The film adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's novel originally had Saif Ali Khan in the lead with
Siddharth Anand as director before alleged script differences led to the film being called off.

The project was resumed with Bhardwaj at the helm and Shah Rukh Khan in the lead, with Priyanka Chopra or Aishwarya Rai both purportedly being considered for the female lead.

According to the Times of India the director is looking to cast an unknown actress in the film.

Is Bollywood's biggest cold war about to thaw? SRK's comments on buddy KJo's show certainly makes it seem so

Shah Rukh Khan @iamsrk with @kjohar25 on Koffee with Karan

http://livingartarchitects.com/santosh

The King Khan plays a superhero in Anubhav Sinha's next RA.One and it seems like the role is rubbing off on him in real life too.

Shah Rukh Khan
is multi-tasking off the screen and apart from playing the lead role in the film, he has also written a part of the screenplay.

For evidence of this literary spark, look closely at the closing credits of the film where he will be credited for writing the screenplay along with Hollywood writer David Benullo.

An industry insider said, "Since RA.One is not a run-of-the-mill film, it requires unique treatment. It has loads of special effects, which is why Shah Rukh wanted Benullo to work on the script, along with Kanika Dhillon, to make sure it stands out from the usual commercial Hindi films."

Benullo has Around the World in 80 Days, Hallowed Ground, Cupid and Shadow Man which won the International Fantasy Film Award in 2006 to his credit.

"While sitting for screenplays with Benullo and Dhillon, Shah Rukh too gave his inputs for the film," says the source "and ended up penning a few pages of the screenplay.

Benullo and Dhillon were both impressed at SRK's talent as a writer and decided to retain the scenes. It is just a part of the entire screenplay, but very beautifully done."

Shah Rukh was unavailable for comment and Kanika Dhillon did not revert to our messages.

Shah Rukh Khan in Krrish 2

SRK offered role in the Hrithik Roshans' superhero sequel

Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan have been bonding big time for a while now. Their personal rapport is likely to extend to a professional level as well.  King Khan has been offered a role in the Roshans' home

production Krrish 2.

Says a source, "Shah Rukh and Hrithik are the best of pals in the industry today. It was but natural for Roshan Sr to etch a role in his son's flick for his buddy as well. SRK's

character in the film will have shades of gray to it."

Adds the source, "The Roshans have already sounded Khan off about having him in their project. And he has told them that he can be available only after the release of his production Ra.One."

The sequel to Rakesh Roshan's 2006 flick has been in the pipeline for a while. After the debacle of Kites and Guzaarish, papa Roshan has taken it upon himself to ensure that his son's career gets back on track.

And considering that Koi Mil Gaya and Krrish did well at the B-O, it is time Duggu wore his superhero cape to create magic again on screen.

Buzz is that Deepika Padukone has been finalised for Krissh 2.

Roshan Sr however maintains, "We have not yet finalised the cast for Krrish 2. We are still working on the script after which I will begin casting. Presently I am out of the country."

The last time SRK and Hrithik came together on screen was in Karan Johar's Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001).

Gehri Dosti
If there was any animosity between Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan (during Koi Mila Gaya and later during the Krazzy 4 song controversy), it is ancient history now. Roshan Jr has now become a permanent name on that exclusive list of invitees to Mannat. He and wife Sussanne have been at all parties at King Khan's home and vice versa. Both stars have been catching up on each other often despite their busy
schedules. The friendship between wives Gauri and Sussanne also brought them more closer.

FACT
When Krrish had
released, Hrithik had a special screening for Shah Rukh so he could get a frank opinion from him.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan wishes his fans a happy and healthy New Year.

"To new beginnings. Have a healthy, happy & fulfilling new chapter. May all your troubles be as shortlived as your New Year resolutions. Love," Shah Rukh wrote on microblogging site Twitter.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh is looking forward to his comeback on the small screen with the new show "Zor Ka Zhatka" on Imagine and his highly anticipated sci-fi movie "Ra.One" - the TV show will go on air in January next year and the movie may hit the screens some time next year

'If Salman is upset with me, it's my fault'

Is Bollywood's biggest cold war about to thaw? SRK's comments on buddy KJo's show certainly makes it seem so

Karan Johar broke down when best buddy Shah Rukh spoke about his former friends Farah Khan and Salman Khan. The episode airs this week (January 2).

Says a source from the Koffee sets, "SRK's episode with KJo is emotional where Shah Rukh has been caught in a mellow, introspective mood. He's emotionally vulnerable, revealing things that have hurt him in the last year."

The source adds, "When Karan pointed out that people feel that old friends Farah and Salman have a problem with Shah Rukh, SRK says, 'I don't know how to make friends and if I do, I don't know how to keep them....

If Salman and Farah are upset with me it's 100 per cent my fault but I can't pick up the phone and say sorry.... I can't apologise because of ego but because I can't just get myself to ask people to come back to me... I had asked my parents to come back and they didn't...' "King Khan spoke highly of his former friends. "SRK spoke very honestly about Sallu and FK.

He admits that the biggest problem in his life is his cell phone as many of his friends accuse him of not taking or ignoring their calls and messages."

Karan was moved to tears when SRK said that he can't constantly tell people that he loves them. "He says, 'I feel it's understood that I love them if I have told them once... I can't keep repeating it... I have a problem saying 'I love you' twice and thrice and keep repeating the words... Even in my films I can't keep saying 'I love you!' "

Says KJo, "It was a totally different cup of coffee this time. It's awkward to discuss and recreate such intimate scenes normally again.

I have never become emotional on Koffee With Karan because that's never been the tone of the show (it's usually spicy and controversial)."

About his buddy's appearance on the show KJo, "Shah Rukh is warm and heartfelt as he naturally is. He has spoken on all his relationships, family and friendships.

There's certain strength in what he had to say. He is beyond any kind of issues. You feel he has risen above every situation and comes through beautifully on the show.

This coffee on the couch episode with SRK was emotionally unplugged more than humor unplugged. It's a new impact!"

Bollywood's King Khan to celebrate New Year in Dubai

Bollywood superstar set to host lavish Palm island party for family and friends; Hrithik Roshan to attend

Sometimes it feels Dubai is an extension of Bollywood.

The emirate has certainly emerged as the party break destination for India's film fraternity.

With Salman Khan bringing in his 45th birthday with a lavish three-day event at the Grand Hyatt Dubai, news has now emerged that Shah Rukh Khan will party it up in the shiny emirate.

The Bollywood superstar is reportedly jetting into the UAE with his family and a group of close friends, all of whom are likely to be checked into a luxury hotel on The Palm Jumeirah from December 30 to January 1.

Accompanying him are fellow actor Hrithik Roshan and his wife Susanne Khan, as well as director Karan Johar and lawyer Kaajal Anand, who is close to Shah Rukh's wife Gauri.

But the main party will be at Khan's residence on the island, sources in tinseltown say.

Also on the guest list is the actor Chunky Pandey, while Arjun Rampal is reportedly yet to firm up his plans.

Tees Maar Khan makes Shahrukh smile

Amongst all hype, all the great promotional campaigns from the choreographer turned director Farah Khan, her latest film Tees Maar Khan starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif released on the 24th of December. The film was received with great response on day 1 at the box office but saw week fan following afterwards, besides the critics also slammed the movie. Recently Shahrukh was at a launch of an energy drink at the Grand Hyatt in Mumbai where he was asked about the movie's response.

He smiled and responded that he was so busy shooting non-stop for Ra. one that he would fall asleep at such questions. The response might be a diplomatic one but the smile on his face was enough to raise a few eye-brows.

In another incident relating to the movie, a place where film's photos were being printed to be on the covers of Tees Maar Khan was found and the people were caught with charges of piracy against them. The matter was reported to the producers also.

Toll free number, 1800-103-1919 has also been installed to report piracy.

Shah Rukh, the highest paid host ever?

Looks like Shah Rukh Khan is proving that he is the 'Badshah' even of Tellyland. TOI has learned that King Khan is apparently charging Rs 2.5 crore per episode for his forthcoming reality show Zor Ka Jhatka on TV.

Top industry sources claim that with this astronomical amount, SRK certainly becomes the costliest B-town A-lister to be signed on for a reality show. Whenever Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan have hosted TV shows, the industry debated whether they were the highest paid actors. However, this time it looks like the figures are on SRK's side. A source from the show reveals, "No one will speak openly about how much he is earning, but SRK charging Rs.2.5 crore certainly seems a believable figure.

As of now what can be revealed is that Shah Rukh is on for four weeks, Monday to Thursday, and if you calculate it, he is getting Rs 40 crore for 16 episodes. Bring on the superstar who can charge so much even after his last stint on TV (Kya Hum Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain) was panned and did not get the TRP that he got during Kaun Banega Crorepati."

Is SRK smiling more than usual?

Shah Rukh Khan is known for his dedication to work. The actor recently played to the gallery at the launch of an energy drink at the Grand Hyatt in Mumbai.

When asked later for his opinion on Tees Maar Khan being panned by the critics, he quipped: " I haven't had the time to think about any film other than my own Ra. One . I have been shooting non- stop. If you keep asking me such questions, I might fall asleep on my feet." With the film not getting the bumper collections Farah was expecting, is SRK smiling more than usual?

Why this party, SRK?

Shahrukh Khan
Shahrukh KhanMore Pics
Shah Rukh Khan apparently hosted a party weekend gone by to celebrate the failure of " Tees Maar Khan" with close friends.

Says a source, "There were many cars parked outside Mannat and quite a bit of happiness was expressed over the failure of "TMK". SRK has been made fun of in the film, so it's only understandable he's pleased that it isn't working."

But those who're close to SRK opine, "He's a very cautious man and will wait and watch because he knows "TMK" will recover its money. He'd never do anything where he'll have to eat his words later. It was December 24, so a few friends may have come over."

An auction has its own dynamics: KKR’s CEO - ‘All options are open... It’s impossible for anyone to say for sure what’s going to happen’

Calcutta: Shah Rukh Khan, principal owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), has declared that he would "certainly push" for one-time icon Sourav Ganguly at the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, but his No.1 man in administration hasn't made a firm commitment.

"All options are open... It's impossible for anyone to say for sure what's going to happen on January 8-9... An auction has its own dynamics... Ultimately, it will be a financial decision," Venky Mysore, CEO and MD, told The Telegraph.

For the record, KKR had the opportunity to retain Sourav, but decided against doing so, as it would've entailed forking out $1.8 million.

Asked if the fan base would take a hit in Sourav's absence, Mysore countered: "Over time, fans attach themselves to a team... By nature, sports franchises are going to see changes in players from time to time... Fans get connected to what a franchise stands for."

Mysore, who came on board recently after around 25 years in the "financial services industry," pointed out that KKR had consistently been "opposed" to the retention bit as it "didn't make financial sense for most franchises."

Even Gautam Gambhir, for example, has been 'freed' by the Delhi DareDevils.

"We consciously decided to take to the auction with a full purse ($9 million) and see how things play out... We realise it will be a very competitive environment... We cannot but have an open mind and realise that there could be surprises...

"Clearly, a strong line-up has to be put together, how to go about it is a financial challenge... We'd like some predictability in how KKR performs... Honestly, I'm confident Brand KKR is going to go from strength to strength," Mysore, who turns 52 in a few days, added.

For that to happen, though, KKR must deliver and, after three poor years, give its followers something to actually talk about.

Mysore, incidentally, played for Madras University as a No.3 batsman and an off-spinner. His skills as an all-rounder will soon be put to test in Bangalore, which hosts the auction.

Footnote: "All businesses have ups and downs and the IPL is also going through a phase. (Any) Change provides an opportunity to strengthen the foundation of the businesses and to build a stronger structure," is what Mysore said on the IPL being caught in litigation.

SRK to be brand ambassador of XXX Energy Drinks by next year

MJ Group firm XXX Energy Drinks Limited today said it plans to rope in Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan as the brand ambassador of its products as it embarks on a Rs 100 crore expansion plan by next year.
The company, which is looking to garner a sales of Rs 100 crore from the brand by 2015, said it is looking to set up its first production facility for which it is scouting for location.
"We are in talks to get Shah Rukh Khan as brand ambassador... We will officially announce in March or April next year," JMJ Group Vice Chairman Sachin Joshi told PTI.
Earlier this year, the brand has been associated with Khan''s IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as its principal sponsor.
He, however, did not give further financial details on the contract and the time frame of it.
The company said it is looking at setting up its first facility, planning to introduce more brands in the near future, besides expanding its presence in the overseas markets by next year.
"To set up a manufacturing facility, we need to do a substantial business first. By 2012, hopefully we would start setting up a plant, which could entail an investment of USD 10 million (Rs 45 crore)," he said, adding that the capacity of the plant will be around three million cans a month.
It could be either in Pune or Dubai, where it currently manufactures its products through third party, he added.
Besides, the company is also introducing products at price points between Rs 25-30 as part of its plan to tap into the mass market and expand its presence into the smaller cities.
"We will be launching one more brand soon. One of the main reason for the slow growth of energy drinks in India is the high price. So we are looking at introducing an brand which could cost around Rs 25-30," he said.
At present, the firm sells four brands -- XXX, Rejuve, Nicofix and Minus in India and abroad.
On expanding its international presence the company said it is looking at taking to products to around 14 countries across the globe, including UK, African countries and Singapore by the end of 2010.
"We will also be increasing our marketing spend to USD 10 million (Rs 45 crore) from USD 8 (Rs 36 crore) million by next year. We are tying up with a lot of events as part of our marketing activities," he said.

I will never want my show to stoop down: SRK

The TV industry today might be inundated with regular notifications, criticisms and controversies for its reality show content but Shah Rukh Khan, who is making his comeback on the small screen as the host of Zor Ka Jhatka on Imagine TV, says his will be a dignified show, just like the superstar himself.

"I might joke around, fool around with my loved ones, entertain people at length. Sometimes they misinterpret it but I believe I am a dignified person. I am a dignified husband, a father, a brother, a son-in-law," Shah Rukh told IANS in an interview here.

"I will never want my show to stoop down to a level where I feel ashamed of it. I will never do or let any kind of misbehaviour rule my show just for TRP ratings as people say."

The 45-year-old has earlier hosted shows like Kaun Banega Crorepati (2007) and Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain? (2008) and people loved him for his natural wit and humour that had audiences in splits.

Last month, the information and broadcasting ministry cracked down on two shows - Bigg Boss and Rakhi Ka Insaaf - by issuing directives to change their telecast timings following viewers' complaints about vulgar content being proliferated through them.

Shah Rukh's new show is the Indian edition of the internationally popular Wipeout.

Zor Ka Jhatka will see 28 TV stars battling it out in an obstacle course set in Argentina and the superstar also claimed he will stand as an apostle of love and peace to curb eventual male egos on the show.

"Fights on my show are a little dicey to see. I am a love maker and not a fight maker. And if they do, I will stand as a peacemaker then," he said in his trademark dimpled smile with visible ripples around his cheeks.

Asked about his competitive strategy to tackle other celebrity hosts on the small screen, he said: "Till the time competition is healthy everything works perfect. Everybody is doing their job and are giving it their best shot."

"My competition is with myself and not any celebrity. I truly believe that I do a good job, I work very hard and I will keep working hard. And that is what is of concern to me," he added in his nonchalant King Khan manner.

So will the host perform any adventure sports too?

"The first thing that I made clear to the channel was that please don't make me go there and do any of those sports. They want me to do a promo where I need to do some of the activities, but I'm not looking forward to it. Getting dipped in mud, drenched out in dirty water - I can't take that humiliation. But lets see," he quipped.

The show will go on air in January next year.

SRK's next heroine - Priyanka, Deepika or Katrina?

Shah Rukh Khan's next film, a screen adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's TWO STATES to be directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, has been announced and the field is wide open for a leading lady to be signed opposite him. Now that makes for an interesting pairing as it wasn't too many weeks ago when names like Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone were thrown around.

"This would indeed be an interesting development for sure due to many reasons", says an industry insider, "First and foremost Vishal has already worked with Priyanka in two back to back films - KAMINEY and 7 KHOON MAAF. While there is a pro in the form of a comfort factor that has set in between the two, the con comes from the fact that Vishal too may want to work with a new face now."

"Similarily, Shah Rukh is already working with Priyanka in DON 2 and hence the pro and the con is on similar lines as Vishal", she continues, "On the other hand he and Deepika haven't worked together since OM SHANTI OM and if the duo comes together, it would be one reunion that would be much talked about."

This is not all as Sonakshi Sinha and Katrina Kaif too haven't worked with Shah Rukh Khan till date and together, they may well give Bollywood a new pairing.

While the round of speculation continues, the insider says, "Whether it would be Priyanka, Deepika, some other leading lady or a newcomer would be known in a few days from now. Just wait and watch."

Well, we are waiting for sure.

SRK gets Yash to direct him

The steel grey canvas of Shah Rukh Khan's sci-fi flick RA.One will have a touch of Yash Chopra in it. On the actor's request, Yash Chopra directed a part of a song in the film.

Apparently, while shooting for this particular song at the YRF Studios recently, King Khan asked the filmmaker if he could direct the first half of the song. Yash Chopra agreed. Our source from the sets said, "SRK is working on his next schedule at YRF currently.

A song sequence is being shot there under the supervision of Anubhav Sinha, the director of RA.One. While shooting on Thursday afternoon SRK learnt that Yashji was present in the studios. SRK went to him and brought him to the sets of his film.

SRK felt it needed that 'YRF touch'. Yashji was happy and he did the needful. In fact, the song sequence apparently had Kareena Kapoor in it as well; Chopra directed her for the first time." It's quite sporting of Anubhav, really.

Interestingly, cameo directors have been occasionally populating the production of RA.One. The source added, "Earlier, during the shooting of RA.One in London, Karan Johar had stepped in to direct a couple of emotional scenes. So, even KJo has been a part of the film."

In the past Yash Chopra has directed SRK in Darr, Dil To Pagal Hai and Veer Zaara and, if rumours are to be believed, his next, which will go on floors in March 2011, is likely to have King Khan in the lead role. How romantic.

Shah Rukh Khan’s life is more interesting than Bigg Boss

Shah Rukh Khan soon will start shooting for 'Zor Ka Jhatka' the Indian version of 'Wipeout' and make his entry to the Indian Television again with the game show. While he does watch serials and other shows on the television, the man is not interested in the show Bigg Boss.

SRK feels that his life is more interesting than what goes on in Bigg Boss and moreover, the actor is not too keen on watching someone else's lives voyeuristically. Rather he enjoyed all the three seasons of 'Khatron Ke Khiladi' and still loves to watch the shows like 'Desperate Housewives' and 'Dexter'. Shah Rukh had revealed earlier that he and his kids are avid fans of the original 'Wipeout' and hence is looking forward to host the Indian version of this water based game show.

So have Shah Rukh watched an entire episode of Bigg Boss 4, that's being hosted by friend turned foe Salman Khan? Well, the King Khan tells that he is so not interested in seeing the program after getting to watch bits and pieces of the show while flipping channels and in the news channels.

While SRK abhors the fact of voyeurism in Bigg Boss and doesn't watch it, it's the same reason that people love to watch it and not everyone's life is as interesting as SRK.

Payal's smitten by King Khan

Payal Rohatgi has been smitten by none other than SRK, who is hosting the new reality show of which she is a part.

She was very excited from the moment she heard that he will be in Argentina and she will get to be around him. She even informed everyone in her friend circle of the news with a lot of excitement. But unfortunately, she had a freak accident on set where she fractured her hand. She still went on set with equal fervour as he would be there and his encouragement was enough for her to keep going.

Nevertheless, life is not a fairy tale and since her pain was just increasing, SRK asked the production house not to eliminate her as a failed contestant but to let her leave the show with respect. She is now headed back to Mumbai but with a heavy heart not only to have left the show mid-way but also that she would not be meeting SRK every morning.

‘I’ve got my four packs back,’ SRK

'I've got my four packs back,' SRK

Q Each time you come back on television you call it your 'homecoming'.
Well, I have hosted two shows in the last couple of years, after starting my acting career on TV two decades ago. So yes, this has to be my third 'homecoming'. But this time I am feeling more happy, healthy and fresh.

Q What makes it special?
After My Name Is Khan I was depressed. I was also nursing an injury. So I didn't feel healthy. Now I am back to work. I am doing two films and two more will happen soon. I have recovered physically and mentally. I've got my four packs back and two more will follow soon. So it'a new beginning.

Q What interested you about Wipeout?
Wipeout is a crazy, insane and over the top format. I have seen it and so have my kids. I think it's a funny-sweet show where 28 contestants will undergo hilarious tasks and challenges, from jumping over moving obstacles, to bouncing off big balls and dodging swinging pendulums hurled at them.
Q How has the Indian version shaped up?
It is full-on entertainment — masti ka matka, fun ka jhatka and entertainment ka chaska — for the entire family. I have shot for the promo and seen four episodes. I have enjoyed doing quiz shows before, but this show is entertaining.

Priyanka is not SRK's choice for Vishal's nextsr

Priyanka Chopra may have declared herself as SRK's biggest fan, but it seems Bollywood's King Khan dosen't believe in favoritism. Rumor has it that SRK has insisted Vishal Bhardwaj to drop PC and hunt for a fresh face for his adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's '2 States'.

The actor who has previously acted in 'Don' (2006), and is currently shooting for 'Don 2' with SRK, was finalized for the lead role in Vishal's film until Shahrukh suggested the director that she might not suit the role.

Priyanka axed from Vishal's next?
Recently, multiple tabloids had reported that SRK replaced Saif in Vishal Bhardwaj's adaptation of '2 States.' Now, the industry insiders reveal that PC, too, might get axed from the film.

Earlier the film was to be made by 'Anjaana Anjaani' director Siddharth Anand with Saif and Priyanka in lead roles. Although, Saif and Siddharth are no longer a part of the project, Priyanka was always the first choice for the female lead.

SRK and Sajid Nadiadwala are co-producers of the film. A source said, "Initially when the film was solely produced by Nadiadwala, it was Siddharth Anand who was directing the film and Saif Ali Khan and Priyanka were to play the lead roles.

"Although Saif and Siddharth are no longer in the project, Priyanka still continued to be the choice for the leading lady. Until now that is," the source added.

Explaining the whole matter, the source revealed, "Vishal flew down to Berlin, where SRK and Piggy were shooting for Don 2. He narrated the revised script to both the actors in the same room; sure enough they liked it. This was the second narration Piggy Chops was hearing, after the one from Siddharth."

Scuttlebutt has it that after listening the script, Shah Rukh insisted Vishal, who has already worked with Priyanka in 'Kaminey' and 'Saat Khoon Maaf', to drop Piggy Chops out of the project and search for a new face instead.

"He told Vishal that he knew Priyanka was one of his favourite heroines, but the demands of the script could not be ignored," the source said.

Hope Priyanka knows that!

SRK's presence for Sunburn kept under veil

Sunburn organizers have kept under veil Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's presence for the three-day annual event at Goa's Candolim beach, scheduled to begin on December 27.

Emerging out of a meeting with the Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, Party organizer Harinder Singh told reporters on Thursday that they have not prepared exclusive guests list as the party is open for all ticket-holders.

"We have not prepared any guest list for the event as anyone can buy a ticket and enter the party venue. I don't know whether Shar Rukh Khan will come for the festival," he said.

Singh expressed oblivious when asked whether they have 'send an invite' to King Khan to participate in the much-hyped electronic music party. "I don't know...people buy VVIP, VVIP tickets and there are some guests from the sponsors," was his pat reply.

The organizers meanwhile had a meeting with the chief minister to inform about the procedural delays to approve their proposal seeking permission to host the festival. The event expects a crowd of more than 40,000 people from across the globe.

While the Bollywood celebs have planned for their holiday season, SRK along with his wife Gauri Khan and children are planning their head way to Goa. Sources revealed that the Khan family is expected to let their hair down at the Sunburn festival with their friends.

Shah Rukh wants comedy

King Khan will be in seen in Golmaal series' hit director Rohit Shetty's remake of a hit '80s flick

Rohit Shetty and Shah Rukh Khan are set to come together for the remake of an '80s superhit comedy but with RS's consistent collaborator and buddy Ajay Devgn's blessings.

Says our B-Town source, "Rohit and Shah Rukh have had a few meetings over the last few months since the

release of Golmaal 3.

Shah Rukh loved G3 and approached the filmmaker to direct his endorsement ads for his
production house Red Chillies. Incidentally, Rohit is also on its board of directors.

When the two met, the megastar expressed a desire that the director and he come together for a
feature film. SRK told Shetty that he wanted to do a comic family entertainer and asked him to look around for a script."

The Golmaal director zeroed in on a hit '80s comic entertainer. "Rohit and Red Chillies have approached the producer of the hit film for remake rights. Negotiations are in progress and he hopes to finalise the deal soon.

After that happens, the filmmaker and his team of his scriptwriters will begin work on the screenplay."

Rohit, being the straightforward person he is, didn't want close friend Ajay Devgn to hear about it from someone else.

After meeting Shah Rukh, he met AJ at Mehboob Studios where the latter was shooting and apprised him of the situation.

The source adds, "Ajay is never upset about Rohit working with different actors like Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh as he knows he can't suit every script and role.

In any case, Rohit starts shooting the remake of the Tamil super hit film Singam with Devgn in February."

SRK chops Piggy out

Shah Rukh Khan does not have a camp of heroines. If you have worked with him in the past, it does not imply that you will feature again in his future projects. Piggy Chops has learnt this the hard way.

Despite having worked with King Khan in Don (2006) and now Don 2, Priyanka cannot assume she will act with the superstar in the film version of Chetan Bhagat's novel 2 States. Apparently, King Khan felt that Priyanka would not suit the role of the female lead and that a fresher and younger face would.

SRK voiced his opinion to Vishal Bhardwaj, who is directing the film now. Vishal agreed with SRK's idea and soon Piggy was out of the project. The hunt for a fresh face has begun.

SRK and Sajid Nadiadwala are co-producers of the film. A source said, "Initially when the film was solely produced by Nadiadwala, it was Siddharth Anand who was directing the film and Saif Ali Khan and Priyanka were to play the lead roles. Although Saif and Siddharth are no longer in the project, Priyanka still continued to be the choice for the leading lady. Until now that is."

The source continues, "Vishal flew down to Berlin, where SRK and Piggy were shooting for Don 2. He narrated the revised script to both the actors in the same room; sure enough they liked it. This was the second narration Piggy Chops was hearing, after the one from Siddharth."

After returning home, SRK apparently had a meeting with Vishal and he told him that he wanted a new actress in the lead role.

Explaining exactly what SRK said to Vishal, our source said, "He told Vishal that he knew Priyanka was one of his favourite heroines, but the demands of the script could not be ignored."

SRK and Vishal didn't revert to us about this story. And maybe poor Chops doesn't even know. What a state to be in.

Shah Rukh needs to buy a ticket to Goa Sunburn

Organisers of a mega music festival in Goa said they have not prepared a guest list for the event and anyone who wants to come -- be it superstar Shah Rukh Khan -- needs to buy a ticket.

The three-day Sunburn Music Festival will begin on December 27 at the Candolim beach.

Talking to reporters here, the organisers were mum on the participation of Shah Rukh in the event.

"If he wants to come, he is welcome. I can't keep a track of 40,000 people coming for the festival. If Shah Rukh wants to be here for the guest, we would be very happy to have him," said Harindra Singh, vice chairman and managing director of Percept Limited.

Singh said there is no guest list for the festival. "You can buy a ticket and be there. If Shah Rukh buys a ticket and comes, then he is welcome.

It was a rare honour for Bollywood badshan Shah Rukh Khan when Russian president Dmitry Medvedev landed on the sets of 'Ra.One'.

On Wednesday evening, Medvedev dropped by on the sets of 'Ra.One' and hobnobbed with the entire cast and crew of the film. Apart from Shah Rukh, Medvedev was keen to meet Kareena Kapoor, the granddaughter of legendary Raj Kapoor.

Apparently, Raj Kapoor is one of the most popular Bollywood star in Russia. In fact, 'Awaara' and 'Shree 420' were big hits in Russia and songs from the film can still be heard in Moscow restaurants.

Taking to a daily, a source said, "The president was very keen to meet Shah Rukh Khan. Since he is a huge fan of Raj Kapoor, he also expressed his desire to meet the two grandchildren of Raj Kapoor Kareena and Ranbir. He couldn't meet Ranbir since the actor is shooting in Delhi for 'Rockstar', but he did catch up with Kareena and SRK while they were shooting a song sequence at the Yash Raj studios. The President saw one shot, chatted with the stars and left."

Not long back, world renowned magician Franz Harary was in Mumbai and was spotted on the sets of 'Ra.One'.

Even as 'Ra.One' director Anubhav Sinha remained mum on Medvedev's visit, he talked at length about Harary's visit to the film set as, "I was taken in by surprise to have the world's best magician on our film sets. He is a huge Shah Rukh fan. He hung around on the sets for an hour and entertained the unit. It was great fun."

SRK, Kareena shake a leg for Medvedev

The relationship that began with Raj Kapoor's 'Roosi topi' still continues strong as ever, as was evident when Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor shook a leg for Russian President Dmitry Medvedev who visited the set of the film 'Ra.One' at Yash Raj Studio on Wednesday evening.

Although SRK and Kareena wanted to record the song for the president to show how Indians shoot their film, security reasons prevented them from doing so. The actor told reporters "I wanted to show him the whole song but unfortunately could not do so due to security reasons."

The actor also said that he would love to shoot in Russia if something materializes. Khan said, "There is a need to revive the old ties between the two countries."

President Medvedev who had a half-hour meeting with the top film personalities couldn't help but praise Indian cinema.

He said that there was a channel in Russia that shows only Indian movies 24x7 and Indian cinema has become very international. He also said that he would want people from Russia to come to India to learn filmmaking.

Earlier, in an interaction with IIT-B students, Medvedev requested them to ask less complicated questions. He was cornered when they asked him the lengths that Russia would go to, for supporting India if she took a dire step against a neighbour.

"India and Russia have a special relationship; it is not a figure of speech, but a matter of fact," he said.

He also reiterated his support for India's bid for a permanent seat in the UNSC.

SRK keeps away from rude tweeters

Shah Rukh Khan prefers to lay low instead of hitting back at rude tweeters

Shah Rukh Khan has vamoosed from his micro-blogging site for over a month and a half. He last tweeted on his birthday November 2 stating "Birthday with the babies at the shoot in Berlin."

And then strangely, went quiet.

Considering that the eloquent star was pretty active, his long silence has led to all types of speculation as SRK did not announce that he is taking a sabbatical from Twitter as others do.

Withdrawn?

Certain sections also feel that he has gone off to avoid any questions pertaining to Tees Maar Khan and Farah Khan.

However a source close to the actor pooh-poohs the rumour, "Shah Rukh had been receiving a lot of negative comments lately. He was upset and hurt as a result.

And that is why he has withdrawn. He preferred to lie low instead of hitting back through the micro blogging site.

Also, he doesn't believe in blocking people who post negative comments but he is in a headspace where he doesn't want any kind of negativity."

That's rude!

In an upcoming episode of Koffee With Karan, the actor has confessed to the reason behind his disappearance from Twitter.

He said, "I feel love from lakhs of people but there are lots of people who say rude things about my family and friends and that hurts me. I don't want to read those things, so I am staying away from Twitter."

An insider who was present while filming adds, "SRK's show is totally non-controversial. It is like no other episode of KWK. He spoke about love, friends, family and it got really emotional.

Most people on the set were dewy-eyed while filming,
including the host." The episode airs on January 1, 2011.

Waiting for Khan

In most of Europe, Bollywood films are living in the shadows and frequently have to deal with stereotypes. I have met quite a few people that say they do not like Indian films due to the 'interrupting' song and dance sequences. However, on enquiry most of them had to admit that they have actually never seen a Bollywood film. One result of this generalisation is the neglect of a variety of very well produced mainstream and independent films from the subcontinent.

At least for Germany, things might change soon. This autumn, Shahrukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra and other well known Indian actors came to Berlin to shoot the sequel for the 2006 blockbuster "Don – The Chase Begins Again". After this was announced last summer, it did not take me long to find the local casting agency and eventually, I got booked as an extra for "Don 2".

It is no coincidence that the producers decided to shoot in Germany. The local market for Bollywood film is flourishing: in the last five to 10 years, more and more Indian films were released on DVDs. They are shown on TV and Bollywood blockbuster premieres at the Berlin International Film Festivals. There are Bollywood parties, magazines, dance classes, film festivals and fan clubs. And when Shahrukh Khan comes to Berlin, for film premieres or, as recently, for shooting, fans wait for him at the airport, scream at the red carpet and camp in front of the hotel.

However, Bollywood films hardly make it into cinema for regular releases. It will be different with "Don 2" which is expected to be released in German cinemas, not least because the project was partially initiated and funded by Berlin's city marketing and film funding agencies.

Something special about the Bollywood phenomenon in Germany is the binary fragmentation of the audience. On one hand, there are the highbrow film festivals, newspaper features and an intellectual examination of Indian popular culture. Films are shown on cultural TV channels in between opera recordings and documentary features. On the other hand, films are shown on popular channels as well, in between American drama and reality TV. Fans are mostly female and celebrate the rather simple elements of Bollywood films: their colourfulness and romance.

Similar motives could be found among the large group of extras on the set for "Don 2". After I received the short notice to attend the shoot, I went to sleep early as I had to get myself out of bed at 4.30am. First lesson, the film business is not for late risers. I made it in time and found myself amongst almost 100 other extras.

There were people for whom the job provided an additional income. These were mostly pensioners or housewives, some students and artists as well. Then there was a small group of amateur and professional actors that had been booked as extras. I was amused at how they tried to distinguish themselves from the others. A third group consisted of people who participated for curiosity and excitement, who have everyday jobs and wanted to know what a film set is like. Interestingly, most of these extras had never heard of Shahrukh Khan, quite opposite to the last group – the Bollywood fans!

Second lesson, to be an extra means waiting for long periods of time. This, it seems, is unavoidable in a production of this size. People would sit and lie in the lounge, chat, read, do puzzles, eat, watch films, smoke, sleep. Some even brought camping armchairs and blankets. But then, all of a sudden, a few of us were needed. We were curious as much as we were tired. For our scene, we had to look frightened and shocked. I tried to visualise what would happen and to get a certain expression onto my face. Although, my only acting experience stems from a school play 20 years ago. Ironically, on the way to the set we got stuck in an elevator. After these fierce minutes, looking frightened was a bit easier to accomplish.

So finally we went into operation. It was a huge outdoor set involving Sharukh Khan and a crew of several dozen people. As one might imagine, a film like "Don" includes lots of cars, pyrotechnics and weaponry. It was a thrill worth the wait.
