Bollywood badshah Shah Rukh Khan is back to his roots - the small screen. Nearly two decades after featuring in fiction shows like Circus and Fauji, the superstar recently shot a cameo for Colors' new show Sasural Simar Ka.The 45-year-old was quite excited about the shoot, and squeezed in time out of his choc-a-bloc schedule for it, said a source from the channel. The channel arranged to shoot the sequence at Mannat, his residence in Bandra, Mumbai.

"The story appealed to him as Sasural Simar Ka deals with a girl Simar, who can go to any length to make her dreams of a being an expert dancer come true," said the source.

Though the actor kept his strings attached to TV through reality shows like Kaun Banega Crorepati, Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hain and Zor Ka Jhatka, this is Shah Rukh's first appearance in a TV serial ever since he achieved star status.

In his cameo in Sasural Simar Ka, Shah Rukh plays judge of a dance reality show Chak Dhoom Dhoom, in which Simar, the protagonist wants to participate without the knowledge of her father.

Actress Deepika Samson, who plays Simar, was on cloud nine after shooting with King Khan.

"It was a lifetime experience to shoot or be around SRK. I froze when I saw Shah Rukh. He made me feel so comfortable. I keep pinching myself to believe that I shot with him," said Samson.

SRK's RA.One audio mission

Obsessed with the project, Shah Rukh Khan has decided to give multiplexes a complete makeover re-equipping the sound and projection facilities

If we were to say Shah Rukh Khan is leaving no stone unturned for his brainchild RA.One, it would still be a major understatement.

His over-the-top efforts began with aggressive measures to promote the film by capitalising on the cricket frenzy during the world cup and now the IPL (Mumbai Mirror, March 23).

Exhausting all efforts to perfect the content and promotions, Khan has decided to control the way audiences watch the film, by modernising, re-equipping and replacing the sound and projection facilities in multiplexes across the country.

Reportedly, Khan, accompanied by a technical team, will head to Los Angeles, in June, to tweak RA.One with all the special sound effects, never used in any other Indian film.

For audiences to truly experience and appreciate these effects, the actor has decided to upgrade the sound systems in multiplexes. Resul Pookutty, a member of the technical team on this mission, explained, "You see, RA.One is not just a movie experience.

It will be the first Indian film to hover somewhere between being a game and a movie. It requires a very unconventional sound and visual quality for which we're installing the required equipment."

SRK To Do A Cameo In Daily Soap Sasural Simar Ka

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who started his acting career from television over two decades ago, will do a cameo in the newly launched daily soap Sasural Simar Ka.

The 45-year-old actor will be playing himself in the serial, aired on Colors channel from Monday to Friday. He will be a celebrity judge of a dance reality show. Shah Rukh will be seen in one episode which is likely to be telecast next week.

Shah Rukh made his acting debut in 1988 when he appeared in the TV series, Fauji, playing role of Commando Abhimanyu Rai. He went on to appear in several other television serials, most notably in Aziz Mirza's Circus.

In 2007, Shahrukh replaced megastar Amitabh Bachchan as the host of the third series of popular game show Kaun Banega Crorepati. In 2008 he hosted another game show, Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain?, and this year he hosted Zor Ka Jhatka.

Shahrukh Khan’s Kolkata Knight Riders on top

Shahrukh Khan's bold decision to acquire Gautam Gambhir at the phenomenal price tag of $2.4 million is paying big rewards. Half-way through the current season the Kolkata Knight Riders have announced themselves as worthy contenders to win it all.

For a team that has mostly finished at the bottom in past seasons of the IPL, the current KKR team has given Shahrukh lots to celebrate and cheer about. With Gautam providing stability at the helm, the team has won 5 of their 8 matches and now sits on top of the points table.

This is very different from past seasons, where nothing seemed to have worked for the KKR, there were a number of off-field controversies, poor decisions in coaching and Sourav's quarrels with Buchanan and Brendon McCullum.

Earlier in the season, SRK had declared that he will take off his shirt and show his abs if his teams makes it to the finals of the ongoing T20 tournament. Poonam Pandey may have chickened out of her promise to strip after India's world cup win, but Shahrukh Khan will surely stick by his word.

They may have not done it before by team KKR seem set to storm into the semi-finals.

Shah Rukh celebrates KKR's win

City loyalties are clearly not strong enough to withstand fan frenzy. On Thursday, the Delhi crowd at Kotla came all out in support of the Kolkata Knight Riders instead of the Delhi Daredevils â€" because KKR owner Shah Rukh Khan was there!

Shah Rukh charmed the spectators by waving at them, whistling and passing air kisses. Finally, when the last ball was bowled, SRK jumped onto the podium and danced along with the cheerleaders.

Later, he went back to the hotel with his friends Vivek Khuslani, Seema Kilachand and her son Yuvraj, Rustam and Tejinder Tiwari, Gauri's mother, Salil Chaturvedi, Kiran Gandhi, Jai, Wasim Akram and Gautam Reddy, and they partied till 3am. Said SRK, "The last three years were very difficult, but this year will be different. It was a tough win, but we are happy with the ways the boys are performing."

KKR flags and T-shirts being sold in large numbers

With the Kolkata Knight Riders putting up a good show in the ongoing Indian Premier League edition, flags and T-shirts of the Shah Rukh Khan co-owned franchise are being sold in large numbers in and around the stadium.

Apart from the original T-shirts being sold in several outlets around the stadium and in leading shopping malls, many youngsters are making a few quick bucks by selling the cheap items.

While the originals cost an exhorbitant amounts, the cheap ones are being sold at affordable prices.

'I was selling the flags till the last game for Rs.15. Now you have to shell out Rs.20. If they win one more match, the prices will jump to Rs.30,' said a youngster at the gate.

Similarly, KKR jerseys of ordinary make are being sold on the pavements and small stalls by unemployed youths for Rs.150. The most popular are the ones with Gauti (KKR captain Gautam Gambhir) monogrammed at the back.

'It seems the Kolkatans have finally got over the sadness of not seeing Dada (Sourav Ganguly) in the IPL,' said one fan.

Looking good as a unit, says SRK

With the Kolkata Knight Riders registering two back-to-back victories, Shah Rukh Khan is a happy man. And his satisfaction with his team was obvious when he went on to say that he wouldn't be 'sad' even if his team lose because they are playing a fantastic brand of cricket.

"I'm a sportsperson at heart… Nobody likes to lose, everybody wants to win. Even during the earlier editions, whenever I was sad, I was not sad because we were losing.

"Even if we lose now, I would be okay with it… Because we are entertaining people and we are looking good as a unit. During team meetings, the boys look very balanced, they seem to be confident and are happy," Shah Rukh said after his team's convincing 8-wicket victory over the Kings XI Punjab, at the Eden, on Saturday.

The principal owner of the Knights also said that the team have been very purposeful and calm in their outlook.

"I'm happy that all the guys have come good… Somehow, I feel that in their heart, the players, though many of them were not part of the team in the earlier editions, recognised what hardship the Knights had gone through in the last three years…

"So I just want to thank them for their performance. They have been very purposeful and calm," the Badshah said.
